First of all, I really think it's a stupid idea to have SW characters in the soul calibur universe at all. They're freakin' using light sabers, and they still CLASH agianst the SC characters that are using normal weapons.

Second of all, they're probably just doing this to cash in the money, just like how they did it with SC2's exclusive characters.

and Third, They should just make a Star Wars Soul Calibur fighting game or something. It makes more sense to have SW characters fighitng each other.

Now, I like SW, but I definitely don't think SW characters belong in the SC universe.

I used to be a fan of the SC series. Started with Soul Blade and continued on with SC2 and 3, but I've already decided to not get this game due to the excessive T&A. I was ok with it for certain characters like Ivy and Taki, but the see through pants Talim killed it for me.

hmm... just because of the t&a, it kills it for you? I know it can be a turn off for some women, but t&a has nothing to do with gameplay, when it's mostly about the fighting. For some, the character creation might be cool, if that's your thing.

hmm... I went and looked at a talim SC4 picture, and I don't see any see-through clothing on her. Not sure what you're talkinga bout.

EDIT: Oh nvm, i see it now, but it's only for the pants. Big deal. It's not like you're looking at her vagina or something. And in the last games, she had short shorts anyways, which revealed her legs. So I don't see what's the problem here.

So I'm a prude now... Funny how that works. They have that armor system. It would've been cool had more of the characters actually had armor, y'know? As it stands, you're just ripping off clothes for a majority of them. I believe it had little next to nothing to do with gameplay as well...

Cheap,broken,can only be hit by low attacks,his throws go over low attacks,can't be thrown,criticals change to crappy ones instead of their normal ones and apprently while playing as him vs. the AI it's apprently very easy to fall out of the ring.

Well that's pretty hard to do. The problem is he's only about 2 feet tall to begin with. They can't make him taller and keep him accurate. Can't have the weapons hitting air and doing damage.

IGN gives it 8.7 on both and also hate Yoda:

"I think everyone is wondering how Darth Vader and Yoda compare. In case you're new to the party, let me fill you in: the PS3 version of Soulcalibur IV features special guest character Darth Vader, while the 360 version gets the lovable, huggable Yoda. Both versions, however, get the Apprentice, the main character from the upcoming Star Wars: The Force Unleashed.

The real issue at hand is that Darth Vader feels like the only balanced character out of the three. Although the Apprentice isn't radically overpowered, some of his moves feel a bit on the absurd side. Plus, he can levitate and shoot lighting. That's tough to deal with. Yoda, on the other hand, is broken. As I feared since the first moment he was announced, Yoda's height makes him an almost ridiculous addition to the ensemble and he's quite possibly the worst thing to happen to Soulcalibur IV. Don't misunderstand: he's fun enough to play as but he's powerful, agile and, because he's so small, a surprising number of attacks go clear over his head. Furthermore, he can't be grabbed. Ever. He's completely immune to it -- even Yoda can't grab Yoda. This is a clear indication that Yoda's just there for kicks and shouldn't be taken seriously as a competitive character. He simply doesn't mesh well with the rest of the cast.

Vader, however, works just fine. He has a few fancy moves here and there but matches with and against him still felt balanced. Even though Yoda is an "inferior" character, 360 owners shouldn't be discouraged. He's just one character out of a collection of more than 30 fighters, so the experience doesn't suffer because of him. If anything, you can just elect to ignore him on the character select screen."

well, the height thing wasn't really what I meant. surely there's no remedy for that, and that part of the issue was expected. I mean, a tall yoda would be quite tard. moreso the throwing problem. and shouldn't he be able to be taken down by high attacks while in midair?

If he's in mid-air he's attacking so I guess he could be hit but it depends on the attack if his would over ride the incoming one. I'm getting it on PS3 anyway as I do with everything now and don't play online so it won't be a problem for me.

well, no, the height thing doesn't cause the throwing problem. you can't even throw yoda using yoda. he's just all out immune to throws. that definitely needs to be fixed.
it's a non-issue anyway as xbox players will just download vader and only use yoda to cheese the hell out of the story mode and get achievements. (w00t! built in godmode!)

this is the most painful news, game comes out today and im close to going to store yet i dunno what to do. i own both ps3 and 360 but i buy all my games on 360 as i only us eps3 for ps3 exclusives and blu-ray but DARTH FRACKING VADER! also 360 has a larger network so you wont get any good online matches on ps3 but VADER!!! omfg this hurts!

Well you're not going to get good online matches on 360 either if everyone uses Yoda.

Anyway I'm quite displeased.
I sent someone out to get get the LE for me a Futureshop and if they didn't have it I said go to Wal-Mart. They come back and I'm told Wal-Mart didn't get it and FS said it was delayed a week. I check the store stock and the other 3 FS stores I have for checking had it but this one didn't. I went to Wal-Mart myself and they DID have the LE but it was $79.99 instead of the $69.99 at FS. I ended up renting it from a local store. Not that the DLC code is working at the moment anyway.

Siegfried still has his <-<-BB attack so that should probably kick Yoda's ass. Nightmare should be able to handle him too.

note to online okayers, if you are willing to wait for vader get the 360 version and DL him when it's available. that way you still get the benefit of XBL and the chartacter.

instant remedy for yoda BTW, Ivy she has so many mid/low attacks yoda is worthless to cheese players. I have personally smacked the living hell out of 3 yodas with her today.

It's the same basic Soul Caliber so yes it's good. Though now instead of just a cheap ass end boss the Apprentice is pretty cheap ass too. Ring outs are harder wich I think is great since I always considered that the wuss way.

Story mode has changed,will frequently fight 2-4 characters now instead of just one.

Love the character creation. Normally I couldn't stand Ivy but I just edited her into something presentable,I made her into a pirate. Whoever wanted Vader in a school girl outfit isn't gonna get it. Can't edit him (or any special characters) other than adding a special item and the school girl outfit is only with the LE. Only bad thing is when creating an original character you have to give them an existing characters moves.

The graphics and art design (especially stages) are great. Everything is so beautiful and colorful. It might just be me being sick of the brown/gray/cities made of rubble cause of an alien attack.

Ahhh... so I suppose the "existing character" editor is a bit more in-depth this time. When I read that existing characters could be changed, I assumed it was just the color like in the last game. Good to hear that it's possible to make Ivy put those things away.

As a long time fan of the series(started on the dreamcast) I have this to say :

I have to wonder, what the hell did they do to Soul calibur?

The characters move a lot slower, and they actually changed some of the move inputs.

Why would you do that?

It's like if you picked up street fighter 4 and did a down half circle forward and it didn't do the fireball move for Ken or Ryu.

And what the hell happened to the story in SC4?
I mean who is this new bad guy that has BOTH swords and how the hell did he get them?

I don't know what to think about this one yet.

They changed move inputs and movesets so it wouldn't be the same game. Every 2D fighting game it's the same way to throw a fireball,not just SF.

Far as story guess you'll have to unlock him then view the Chain of Souls or take a guess from the intro.

I've only made Rikku from FFX-2 so far. I started yesterday but there was no bottom for her. The LE DLC had a good one though. Though there is that slight problem where she only starts with 50% HP.
