I have a PS3 and 360, I want Rockband on 360 cus most of my friends have a 360, but my 360 has already overheated with one controller in use, will all USB usage overheat my 360? I dont want to spend $170 on a 360 game and get the RRoD!

I can totally trust the PS3, but hardly anyone has a PS3!

I have a PS3 :(

I'm sure someone with an 360 can give you a good answer. I would say no, since you can plug stuff into the USB hub that all the heat would be gather near the hub.

Thats just a guess, but I'm sure someone who knows more about electronics will come in and set this straight.

The 360 USB HUB actually has it's own AC power adapter that you have to plug in. Therefore, it doesn't run off the power of the console, so it shouldn't affect it any different than using just 1 controller.

I think...

what do you mean it's overheated? Did it lock up? show a error code? flash the red ring? USB usage has nothing to do with the overheating problem. The majority of the heat is made by the 3 core CPU and the GPU. The way things are laid out the GPU can separate from its board and cause a major error.
If it's locking up I'd call MS and ask for a warranty replacement. If you've seen the red ring even once I'd call MS for a warranty replacement.

Ive sent mine off to Microsoft, I just dont want to get it back only to send it off again.

Good news about the wireless hub, should hopefully share the load.

Thats right, as a matter of fact...Microsoft is strongly against anyone using more then 3 USB's that are onboard. This is because USB uses power straight off the motherboard, thus decreasing performance and increasing the likelihood of your power supply shorting out.

Like Marty said, Microsoft recommends using a USB hub which receives power from other resources then the motherboard. The USB hub will plug into the xbox like a regular controller, however it will only be consuming the power of 1 USB controller. Also, i'm assuming this is USB 2.0, which means data throughput will be more then efficient with all the peripherals hooked up

This will help out a ALOT!

I hope this helped

Yep, it is USB 2.0. They made sure to use the best because it's necessary to have absolutely zero delay in the response of the controllers.

The hub runs on it's AC adapter so it runs on it's own power. Not the 360s.

Ahh, it's best to just forget he said anything. Don't start a console war!
