I wonder if when doing a drum fill in rb2 if the drums will match the drums in the song, i doubt it, but it would be awesome, any thoughts?

i dont see why not as long as you have the cymbals, probably can get it close

The sound of the fills during "Everlong" seemed to match it pretty well, but that could just be the new "default" set of sounds. I was always kind of baffled with why Harmonix never did this for the first one, or even for all the DLC we've since received.

But yeah, at least now we get cymbals to throw in the mix.

yeah but while playing the songs on the game when you hit those cymbals during a fill it will make the same noise as that color pad, so really other than just for the feel of it and the drum trainer, the cymbals are pointless

[I believe] the cymbal hits are recognized during fills (where you activate your overdrive), Big Rock Endings, the Drum Trainer, and Freestyle Mode.

Far from pointless, if you ask me.

They might have chosen to demo Everlong because the fill samples match the original song so well.

Yeah. I said that.

I hope it does. It's one of the things I don't like about RB1. I didn't like the horrid crash sound they used for fill sections. The fill section needs at least 2 cymbals. Like when you hit the crash cymbal, it alternates between two drum crash samples. And a hi-hat sound would be good too.

this is the first ive heard of this for in game play, last i heard they said since the cymbals were optional there was no way for them to do that for the fills, BRE's and such

i hope you are right though bc that will be awesome

I thought I'd read/heard that somewhere. If I'm wrong, I'll be pretty disappointed.

EDIT: Because I remember hearing something about the ability to "add more personality to fills" in relation to the cymbals.

The Everlong seems fit.

The Everlong seems fit.

Yes, but that could be because that's the new default set of sounds for fills.

cool, according to this you are correct, it is for fills and stuff, its just when playing the song you could hit the blue cymbal or the blue pad when the blue note comes up etc, but unique sounds for fills, bre's, and drums trainer, thats awesome

Yeah. I said that.

You said that the default drum samples fit with Everlong. I, however, said that perhaps Everlong was chosen (among other reasons) because the drum samples fit. I did not just repeat what you said. Geez, some people argue the English language without a full deck.

I doubt that there are song-specific drum samples coded into each song. That would be an obvious feature to advertise and such a feature has not been advertised.

You're not wrong. It's in Dan Teasdale's (HMXSprayandwipe, RB2 Lead Designer) blog.

Q: "RE: DRUMS AND ANNOUNCED CYMBALS
I understand the optional cymbals are just secondary inputs for the existing pads, but what about during fills and the "drum trainer" modes? Will those two things recognize the cymbals as unique inputs or will every part of RB2 just recognize the cymbal attachments as secondary pads?" - babywolf

A: While they're mapped to the same colors for the note charts, the Drum Trainer and fills in-game treat these surfaces are unique - hitting the yellow cymbal triggers a hi-hat, and hitting the yellow pad plays a tom. Same goes for all the inputs on the Ion kit and other third-party kits in development.

I wonder if when playing drum fills through a game-mode online, the other players will be able to hear it?

Are they able to hear it now in RB1? (I don't know cause I always am the drummer)

No. And I'm doubting they'll do it for Rock Band 2. Same reason you can't hear the singer. There's just enough latency that it would be more distracting than practical.
