We've been excited about this game for EONS, but, being long-time gamers in many genres, have learned not to get too hyped, in case of cancellation. This one was toooooo good to jinx!

We used the occasion of a display system being set up in our local Best Buy as the test to indicate that the game is ready, it's set and we gotta GO!

This might have been funny a few months ago, but now it just sounds like someone's living in denial.

These might be tough to throw your brain around, but I think facts are fun:

Xbox 360s sold in its first year*: ~5 million
PS3's sold in its first year: ~5 million

Great Xbox 360 games within its first year:
1) Gears of War
2) ?

It took almost 2 years to get Bioshock, Halo 3, and Mass Effect.

Great PS3 games within its first year:
1) Pick one: Heavenly Sword, Warhawk, Ratchet & Clank, Uncharted**

Within its second year, it will have MGS4, FFXIII, Killzone 2, etc.




*This is particularly sad, considering it didn't launch at $500-$600, and they had no "next-gen" competition

EDIT: its silly to compare first years, to have a decent comparison you should compare 360 now to ps3 now, everyone knows that the 360 started out bad, thats the story of xbox in general. If it weren't for halo, there wouldn't be a 360 and the same goes for gears of war, imo. But atleast there is a future in 360 that I can count on enjoying: the gears of war franchise, the mass effect franchise, and rock band.

Hey, I was never a fan, but I downloaded the demo and it was amazing. Not for me to spend 60 dollars amazing, but very good. Neither system is going to go away and neither system will have a game that wipes the other one off the face of the Earth. The PS3 is picking up steam certainly even with Uncharted and Haze this month and will rise to a good level.

I've heard developers saying they don't like to code for it, but if they are getting paid good money for it, it's their jobs. They'll get used to it.

Both systems will co-exist, once the heavy hitters hit in the first half of next year the PS3 will have more variety that will attract more owners.

hehe, we'll see, im a huge final fantasy fan but no one game will ever make me consider buying a new console, plus i bought a ps2 just a month ago so i could play through the final fantasies again :D

EDIT: I actually did consider buying a ps3 before i bought my ps2 when they announced the 40gb ps3 but since it has no backwards compatibility i decided not to get it. If sony would have a genuine price drop rather than drop 100$ while losing 150$ worth of features, I would think about it a little more seiously :D

I plan on buying a ps3 when there is a game I really want on it (note I didnt say a good game as im sure there are good games on it now but none that hold my interest)

If you have a 360 and like it, cool, fine, awesome. Just don't start taking jabs at PS3. And vice versa.

I tried making it clear that the PS3 sold just as many consoles in its first year as the 360 did. If you call that terrible, then fine. I think it's actually surprising, considering the 360 was up against PS2 in its first year, and the PS3 was up against the 360, Wii, and PS2.

Sure, the 360 has sold ~12 million now, but thats after 2 years. Is it unreasonable to think the PS3 can push another 7 million units in its 2nd year, now that its as low as $399, and has some ridiculous games coming down the pipes (MGS4, FFXIII, particularly)? I don't think so.

You act as if even though the 360 had a good year of a head start, that the PS3 was supposed to just catch right up.

As for developers hating it, let's see....that fat guy from Valve, who looks like he eats children. I think he said the PS3 is a waste of time, yet...he's making a game for it. Sounds like a hypocrite to me. There might have been some others that I haven't heard about, but that's far from "most". And then how do you explain big companies like Rockstar announcing PS3 exclusives?

You act as if there's been a unanimous declaration that the PS3 failed, and that it is horrible to make games for. You can keep preaching these same tired lines (no games, too expensive, too hard to develop for, etc.) but they're just not true anymore.

3 months ago. Somebody else said it, the first year sucks for almost every system, 360 sucked, PS3 sucked, it changed. I mean, I own both but prefer the PS3. Enough of this debate though because if we're talking pure sells then Wii is killing both.

There have been multiple points to my posts, but apparently they were over your head, or you just didn't bother reading. I haven't openly bashed the 360, I've just pointed out things that I think are valid (sales, games, etc), to counter what people commonly attack the PS3 about.

The 360 had a much better 2007 than the PS3, there's no denying that. But I don't think its a fair comparison when the 360 has already been out for a year, and the PS3 was just trying to grow some legs.

Well, the FOB part is true. I'm sure I could find comments of yours in PS3/Xbox360 threads that have been multiplying faster than lab mice, but I don't really care. As long as we have a truce.

Edit: Also, to be clear, I didn't say Gears was the only good 360 game. I said it was the only GREAT one in its first year, which admittedly is somewhat subjective. But, in the end, that's what people are saying when they say the PS3 has no games, isn't it? Surely the PS3 has games quantity wise, but they're criticizing quality, and I'm simply saying I'm not aware of any of those ridiculously great games in the first year of the 360, other than Gears. If you know others, do share.

Edit 2: You can criticize PS3 games as being platformers, but then I'd criticize the 360 for being FPS, which would be silly. Uncharted isn't a platformer, MGS4 isn't a platformer, Killzone 2 isn't a platformer, Warhawk isn't a platformer, I could keep going.... I just don't really see where you got this idea from.

prejudging sucks dude, I have not participated in a console war before and I don't consider this conversation truly an argument. I was not an early adopter of the 360 for that reason, I was waiting for halo 3, GOW just happened to be a happy accident :p . The most I've ever played in videogame.

Triangle is space, square is backspace, L and R move the blinking line cursor thingy, select modïfìes tÿpè l¡ké sõ (also for entering long web addresses which saves alot of time), and circle cancels.

Actual typing is done like a cell phone. Every square has 3 or 4 letters a-z and you type like a text message. The amount of text has a cap though which sucks for long messages

Yeah only maybe 10% of my post count was done on PC.

I have a DS and PSP. My PSP is really my media player (I have almost 300 songs on it and download movies time to time plus browse the internet). It's a great machine but I don't game on it much. It's durable too and the battery is great.

I game alot on the DS but the Opera DS browser is very clutzy compared to the (surprisingly powerful) PSP browser.

Maybe that'll help you toefer. Personally I love each equally.
