Why'd they kill the Halo movie. :( Neil Blomkamp is amazing. It could've easily been the best thing to ever happen to Halo.
Jackson has his hands full, MS is being unreasonable, and Blomkamp is about ready to fold. Dammit.
I have seen his earlier work too and love him.
This...this could've pwned. The one Halo related anything I would've given a shìt about.

Wait, the trailer was the actual halo movie being made? I've seen the landfall video but what exactly was it?

Neil Blomkamp (director of the Halo movie) took all the resources from the would-have-been Halo movie and applied them to a Halo promo.

Is he going to make that a full length film? If so I would gladly pay to see that. I couldn't believe how acurate and cool that was.

Technically he's still signed on to do it and technically the movie is still being made.
Problem is MS is demanding crazy amounts of money and nobody will pay up to get the film through pre-production and green light it.
Right now Peter Jackson is still producing but he's got four other projects and Blomkamp is directing another movie too.

last reports were that other partners are now interested again since Halo 3 made a tremendous amount of money. SOurces had confirmed that production had started up again but that's the last word. If they can get a deal together by the end of the year I'd say look out for it late 2009.
the short itself is very very good. Especially for what I asume was a meager udegt. Some of teh CG looks Pre-viz quality or even halo 3 game models but teh action is wlel done and by the end the dramtic overtones actully become very emotional. Blomkamp is very talented If you want to see more of his stuff just google his name. I reccomend his short "Tempbot". Some jaw dropping CG in there. Plus it's a truly sad chort if you've ever temped in your life.

I would def. go out and try to audition for the role of a spartan. I'm big enough!! If they are going to do a Ghosts of Onyx or a Fall of Reach adaptation, I'm there at San Antonio's agency to audition. Height requirement is at least 6'2" and you have to be broad enough to fit the armour. It would be awesome because in Fall of Reach, the Spartan's weren't in full armour until half - way through.
