Back when Rock Band was announced in April-ish, Wolfmother was announced to be one of the artists in the game. I know that DLC is a possibility, but what happened to Wolfmother?

More importantly, what happened to the Allman Brothers and Kansas?

We thought it'd come with two guitars? Oh how young, innocent, and foolish we were.
But yeah where's my Joan Jett and Wolfmother.

Perhaps its an "I want candy" situation like GH:80s where licensing issues cropped up.
Also, some of those bands listed are older... so maybe master tapes were not available and they didn't want to do covers.
Or maybe it's just a sign of things to come via DLC... oh boy that list looks delicious.

This is just a case of incredibly poor writing/journalism on Kotaku's part. If you read the actual article (http://www.usatoday.com/tech/gaming/2007-04-01-rock-band_N.htm) this guy inaccurately cribbed his "news post" from, you'll see that not one of those artists mentioned were ever confirmed for Rock Band at all.
The songs on the new game haven't been revealed yet. Current games include the Allman Brothers, Joan Jett, Kansas, Nirvana and Wolfmother.
In other words, "what happened" to these artists is they were put in Guitar Hero 1 and 2.
Similarly, the article absolutely does not state that Rock Band would come with two guitars, simply that it will be played with two guitars. Nor does it make any kind of statement about labels "plan[ing] to release new content via this game, rather than radio or the internet" as this guy stupifyingly claims, only that the game would feature more original (read: not cover) tracks.
You know, reading this again, it's amazing how terrible that "story" is. The best part is how someone comments early on and infers from these massive errors that "Nirvana is releasing new songs" for Rock Band, and the guy who wrote the thing immediately comments back:
CONFIRMED. You read it here first. Tell your friends.
Yeah, you read it here first after we completely inaccurately swiped all the info from an ACTUAL news source. Games "journalism"... what a joke.

I'm pretty sure that last part was a joke.

Well, Woman was in GH II, so obviously they can get some kind of access to Wolfmother, even if that was a cover (which it was). I'm sure the Wolfmother album will be DLC eventually, so nobody worry.

I like Wolfmother, but compared to Allman Brothers, Joan Jett, and (especially) Kansas?
