Ok, maybe a licensing nightmare this one but....

You had a great night with your mates, you all got totally wasted and wake up the next afternoon thinking what a great night that was, but was it?

If Band Hero lets you record your sessions, that would be ace, imagine the fun that could be had out of your recordings :)

I think the licensing laws might cripple this idea, but I can live in hope.

I keep reading your name as Wind Waker.

Wind Waker is no where near as bad as what I thought it was the first time i saw it (Wild Wa*ker)

Anyway, on this subject of recording video. I think it'd be a nice feature. Maybe if after the song the video played in the background while you scores came up, then you could choose to save the recording if you like, especailly if it was able to mask the fret boards over the footage to show how good you got (or bad depending how drunk you are).

Unlikely as so few people have cameras and not many would use it.

What about a free-for-all style recording session where you and some friends could make your own music completely out of scratch using the game as a recording device?

I'm not sure how well this works logistically, but its a good idea

We've only talked about this like 50,261 times.....

I think my question may have been misunderstood.

I don't want to record the video. I was on about recording the 'song' so it could be replayed. It would be quite funny to listen to what you all got up to 'last night' if you could replay recordings of the songs that were played in Band Hero.

A lot of people read my name as WindWalker, even online people do it, i've got used to it now.

I do agree that it would be cool to have an in-game "save performance" feature, but aside from that, you have many options available to you. The first one that springs to mind is the common VCR. Pop in a tape and push record. Perfomance saved. If you want just the audio, that is also easy as pie. Take the audio out of your console, feed it into two seperate Y-Adaptors, feed those into into a composite-to-3.5mm phono cord, and plug that into the Line-In or Mic port of your computer. Get yourself a cheap-as-free recording program, and hit recored. Violla, audio recoreded.

Hey Darter,

I know what you are saying, but you are making a massive assumption here. No one knows what the online play is going to be like, and we are assuming that you will be able to hear your band mates, now I know it wouldn't be much of an online experience if you couldn't, but all we know is that 'online' play is included, and that could be anything from an updated scoreboard to the full interactive co-operative play we expect.

Ah, you make a good point there, WW. I didn't take online play into consideration. But in your orginal scenario, you mention having a time with your mates, getting plastered or whathaveyou, and that just reminded me of the days when I actually was in a band, and the whole playing live and in the same room feeling just stuck with my "solution". In an offline scenario, I think my ideas would work wonders without an in-game recording feature.

Without further knowledge of the online play, I think it's really all up in the air as to how it would all work. Idealy, a fully interactive 4-player co-op live online experience is what we all want. In an interview that Alex Rigopulos, co-founder and CEO of Harmonix, did, he stated the following regarding online play:

"We have a brilliant technical solution to the latency problem, we have created seamless high-end play over the net."

What that exactly means, I'm not entirely sure, but they say they've got lag in the bag, which means potentailly hearing every missed beat from your drummer and every flat note your singer sings.

Lets hope so Darter :)

The Game Informer article stated there will be full online Co-Op play. It didn't state how they do it, but I found a patent made by Harmonix and posted about it here ( http://www.rockband.com/vbforum/showpost.php?p=4305&postcount=61 ) if ya want to read it. Basically you'll hear a calculated approximation of how your band members will probably be playing.

If there was a way to record it however, i don't think this would inhibit it.

Yeah, maybe to submit it into a database so others can play it too?
Idk, just an idea, might not be overcrowded-lag-proof tho..:D
