24 free songs for people that subscribe/purchase OXM? Or access to 24 songs to buy off of the disc?

*edit* oh, just news of 24 songs. Blah. Not worth buying the mag for. I'll just wait to see what other people say they are.

People should get their magazine any day now (around the 9th) and heres what the Dan from OXM had to say about RB coverage in the Holiday issue:

Rock Band is the largest story; it's the first print review and confirmation of the first 24 downloadable tracks (and they're probably not the ones you're thinking of). And yes, there are gamerpics on the demo disc to tie in with it.

So what does this mean? Pretty much 24 new RB songs any day now *drools*. On the podcast they said it would be a combo of song packs and single downloads although no songs were mentioned.

I thought you might a kick outta this

* "This weighted companion cube will accompany you through the test chamber. Please take care of it."
* "The symptoms most commonly produced by Enrichment Center testing are superstition, perceiving inanimate objects as alive, and hallucinations. The Enrichment Center reminds you that the weighted companion cube will never threaten to stab you and, in fact, cannot speak."
* "The Enrichment Center reminds you that the weighted companion cube cannot speak. In the event that the weighted companion cube does speak, the Enrichment Center urges you to disregard its advice."
* "You did it! The weighted companion cube certainly brought you good luck. However, it cannot accompany you for the rest of the test and must, unfortunately, be euthanized."
* "Rest assured that an independent panel of ethicists has absolved the Enrichment Center, Aperture Science employees, and all test subjects for all moral responsibility for the companion cube euthanizing process."
* "While it has been a faithful companion, your companion cube cannot accompany you through the rest of the test. If it could talk - and the Enrichment Center takes this opportunity to remind you that it cannot - it would tell you to go on without it because it would rather die in a fire than become a burden to you."
* "Although the euthanizing process is remarkably painful, 8 out of 10 Aperture Science engineers believe that the companion cube is most likely incapable of feeling much pain."
* "The companion cube cannot remain through the testing. State and local statutory regulations prohibit it from simply remaining here, alone and companionless. You must euthanize it."
* "You euthanised your faithful companion cube more quickly than any test subject on record. Congratulations."
* "There was even going to be a party for you. A big party that all your friends were invited to. I invited your best friend the companion cube. Of course, he couldn't come because you murdered him. All your other friends couldn't come either because you don't have any other friends because of how unlikable you are. Unlikable, it says so here in your personnel file: Unlikable. Liked by no one. A bitter, unlikable loner whose passing shall not be mourned. SHALL. NOT. BE. MOURNED. That's exactly what it says. Very formal. Very official. It also says you're adopted, so that's funny too."

Wait. They said the first 24 DLC songs, right?

Hasn't HMX said that Who's Next will be available the day after launch?

That would cover 9 of them, but if the other 15 are ones we're not thinking, that is still good by me.

Yeah Yeah Yeah pack would own.

Yeah, probably. But a Head Wound City pack would own even more.

Anyway, this definitely piqued my interest. A strong set of initial downloadable content will go a long way towards making me get this game sooner rather than later.

What about pricing?! :D

24 DLC songs? It better not be counting Who's Next. I assume we'll hear more about those 18 Greatful Dead songs. Hopefully there will be some new songs in there too, I can't wait to see what kind of DLC Rock Band will be getting!

Edit: Which makes me think... Where are we going to hear new DLC info after the game comes out? Here?

Yeah... but wouldn't it be nice to see that new stuff is being announced instead of being shocked once it appears... and maybe having to scroll too much all the way down?

wait... I like shock... but if they can somehow filter all of their DLC, it would be awesome :D

Most of all I want to see

A Green Day Pack
A Rage Against The Machine Pack
A Killers Pack
A Red Hot Chili Peppers Pack
A Sublime Pack
A Foo Fighters Pack
And some classic rock packs (Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Guns N' Roses, The Beatles, AC/DC, Spinal Tap etc)

I second that..!! I believe the time is getting closer and closer to the Rock Band release and by presenting the extra 24 DLC songs it will make this game more wanted than a 2006 Tickle Me Elmo TMX (Yeah, I've sold lots of them on eBay :D :D )

So GnR all the way..!!!!

GN'R pack for the love of Axl.

''Welcome to the Jungle''
''Nightrain''
''Sweet Child O' Mine''
''Paradise City''
''Rocket Queen''
''You Could Be Mine''

That'd be the realistic pack atleast.

Besides Who's Next, I hope we see a variety of artists in the first wave of DLC rather than packs that only give us 2-3 artists to choose from.

Buuut I'll probably be buying it regardless of what it is...

$10 is a little too much to pay for a mag, if you are not subscribed to it. Plus, the news will be here first before i can find the mag anyways. So i probably wont buy it, just wait for someone/everyone to post it here. I am interested to see what they are going to announce.

Anyone know when they are going to release the leaked GH3 song packs?

I really want a Pixies Pack, they already have wave of mutilation on the game might as well make all of Doolittle DLC

I would prefer a Europe release date. Man... you'll get 24+ downloadable songs, we not even have the game yet....

Magnet
11-05-2007, 08:19 AM
From their phrasing, I'm going to bet Who's Next will unfortunately be among the 24 songs. Nevermind might also get confirmed. It could be awesome, complete new-ness, but I'm guessing most of these 24 are ones we already know about.

LongDarkBlues
11-05-2007, 08:44 AM
Who's Next is only 9 (awesome!) songs - that still leaves 15 more, which would seem to rule out the Grateful Dead set. Of course Nevermind is 12 songs, so it could be that and a 3 song pack...

I'd expect that we'll get 1 album, a couple 3-song packs and a couple of individual songs to test out the market and see how people prefer to get tracks

dethklok

11-05-2007, 09:06 AM
he said the tracks are not the one's we're thinking about, which means this number excludes Who's Next and Grateful Dead. Maybe they'll announce the rest of the grateful dead tracks (which there's 13 of) and nirvana's nevermind which makes sense, as well as Metallica-One.

Also bear in mind that this could be the first 24 DLC songs to be released, but not necessarily all at once or in the first week, that could be the listing of the non-album stuff released over an x-week period or something. So fun to guess though! :)

I know someone will hate me for this but I'm hoping for indie. Just to balance out the serious lack of on disc indie tracks compared to mainstream tracks.

GH always had a good balance by making a little less than half the overall setlist bonus indie tracks.

Right. Except for the fact that based on this http://multiplayerblog.mtv.com/2007/11/05/rock-band-audio-director-on-master-tapes-bumping-into-guitar-hero-iii-and-dlc-part-2-of-2/ it appears that GNR is out.

Just the other day, I was playing Guitar Hero III as my favorite guitarist, Slash, from my favorite band of all time, Guns N' Roses...and I thought to myself, this is so much more cooler than having some GNR in Rock Band. Now I have a digital Slash to help me play impossibly hard licks in a game that Neversoft took to new levels...of suckitude.

And it's awesome that I don't get to drum like Steven, because I can't drum anyway. And even better that I can't sing like Axl, because I can't even think about pulling off a "Robert Plant meets Janis Joplin" screech. But the good news is, I don't have to worry about those things anymore

Seriously, thank you Neversoft for ensuring that you cornered the market on GNR songs. I hope you signed Slash to a lifetime contract, because I really can't wait to play "Move to the City" in Guitar Hero 14. And I eagerly await the issuance of the whole "Spaghetti Incident" album as DLC from Neversoft in Guitar Hero 10. Please don't let me down.

Rock on.

That is exactly what I'm thinking, there will not be any more exclusive songs and we shold be able to get them as DLC. Also, why waste WTTJ if it is already done for RB.
