View Full Version : So should I or should I not pre-order the value pack?

I've been dreaming (literally) of playing this game for weeks and I want to play on day 1. I've been fearing that I'm already too late for the pre-order lists and they're probably pretty big right now and I'm doubting my chances of scoring a pack without having to go on eBay and buying an overpriced one. How has everyone else fared with pre-ordering? Is the hype train pretty full or is everyone scared of the price tag?
And if pre-ordering doesn't work, will I have to camp out or can I just show up in the morning like a casual shopper and walk out without a sweat? I remember going to Bestbuy at midnight and was shocked at how many people bought the legendary edition of Halo 3.

I say go for it and try to preorder the bundle at Gamestop or any other store that is accepting preorders. You never know, you might get lucky and nab one. The price is kind of high, which might keep others from preordering. Otherwise, if you can't preorder, I can pretty much guarantee that you will need to get to the stores very early or even camp out in order to get a bundle on day one. Especially since EA has just recently stated that if you don't preorder or stand in line the first day, you will probably not be playing Rock Band this holiday. Anyway, long story short, I say go for it! Good luck and Rock On!!!:)

I hear you man..! I'm in the same position right now. My thing was that if Circuit City and Target had some type of special for GHIII, I'm want to believe that there is going to be something like that for RB. So, I have a feeling that one of those is gonna come out with a free chair for the drums :) I might be on dope here, but I hope I'm right. At the same time, I'm thinking in having a preorder from gamestop just in case it gets sold out everywhere and I lose my chance of getting one.

i would take what EA says with a grain of salt, and if you preorder you should be guaranteed a copy, gamestop preorders cut out when they get too many.

Not necessarily true about the preorders at Gamestop. I still remember getting screwed when I preordered a 360. I was told that they would have enough for all preorders on day one and that never happened. In fact, when I go tomorrow to pick up COD4 I am going to find out if they are getting enough bundles to cover the preorders at my store and if not, how will they fulfill them. I better get one on day one since I preordered back in August.

I had pre-ordered a copy of Assassin's Creed, then recently (like, last Thursday) switched it to a pre-order for Rock Band. This was at Game Stop.
At that time, I asked if they were guaranteed to have the bundle on the release date. He nodded and said yes.
So, I guess that means we're guaranteed to have the bundle on the 20th!

That is exactly the same thing I was told when I preordered a PS3 60 gig last year and when I went to pick it up they didn't have enough and I wasn't able to get a 60 gig. Lamers....

There's no harm in preordering now. If Target or some other store has a special bundle, then you can always cancel your order and camp out at that particular store.

You see, that's the thing. I don't actually want to have to camp out because well...I just wouldn't do that.

Then I believe you've found your solution. EA has said that they will have shortages, so while there is the possibility that they are exaggerating, there is also the very real possibility that when you wander into your local stores you'll find an empty spot where Rock Band once was. Just go down to GameStop (or wherever you like) and get yourself a preorder.

Pre-order and be there at 10:30/11:00 if it's a midnight release, that's what I'm doing, I'd put in a pre-order though because this might fly.

I just went to the (almost) local GameStop yesterday. They were still taking pre-orders. As were the others I phoned in the area. (I live in DC, if you're wondering.)
I was also assured that it's guaranteed for 48 hours after the release date. We'll see how true that is.
