Interesting quote:
The designers went through a variety of heads trying to find the right material mix. Some test heads were completely silent--great for low noise environments, but--just like driving an eerily silent electric car--they didn't feel right. Ultimately, the designers settled on a drum set that's considerably quieter, provides better tactile response, and gives better acoustic feedback.
I agree, which is why I think it's foolish to complain about even the slightest of tap noise when hitting the drums. The only thing worse than tapping noise is no noise at all. I'm glad they found a balance.

Thanks!
I'm really looking forward to the cymbal add ons.

Good point. I'm even a little concerned that the guitar buttons may be too quiet. I'm afraid I may have gotten too comfortable with that clicky sound (took me awhile to get used to the silent strumbar when going from GH2 to RB)

has anyone heard any mention of star power activation on the guitars? The faulty star power is what kept me from using the RB guitar.

Ok so you posted in a thread about this article, but did you even read it?
2nd to last paragraph:
New tilt sensors make overdrive much more accurate and left-to-right movements no longer accidentally trigger overdrive.

Thanks for the link. Good to see some of the improvements up close. Love the improvement with the drums making it harder to hit the guide button. I don't know how many times I've accidentally hit that at some point in the middle of the song.

I wasn't sold on the improved guitar design until now. I will be getting one for sure. Just wish I hadn't bought the old wireless model recently.
So all the new instruments for me....but why aren't we getting the bundle in Septmeber. Grrrrrr

Ahhhhh....I'm mainly a drummer and I wasn't going to get the new drums but now I'm reconsidering....
Plus, the best thing I read in there (that maybe was released before and I just didn't see it) is that the cymbals will be $15 for one or $30 for three. That's awesome news and makes me want to get the new drums even more because I remember seeing the price for additional ION cymbals and thinkin it was insane!

Everything looks cool, but I'm vaguely concerned about the lack of a fourth input as a lefty-- I'd obviously prefer the cymbal to represent the crash (the red for lefties) rather then the snare parts, but there isn't a red port. Hopefully they'll let you assign the cymbals to a function?

Nice find foolosophy. Any idea as to what the extra plug is... I count Five? I'm hoping for a double bass!!!

No need to hope, it's already been confirmed that the 5th port there (the black one) is for a 2nd kick pedal.

all the instruments look awesome to me. I'll probably be getting them all, it's not about the money. Rock Band has been by far the best entertainment purchase I've made in the past year. I have no idea how many hours I've logged on it, but I'll bet it's absolutely rediculous. And I'm about to do it again.

Good point. I'm not left handed but if I was that would suck.
