So, I've really been getting hyped up about this game, but I've hit a snag. My mom is now telling me, that I can't get it, because I don't need any more crap in my room. The guitar and microphone aren't a big deal to store, she just doesn't want the drums. I'm assuming these can fold up however, but I don't think my mom seems to understand that. If they do fold, any idea about how much space they take up?

Wow, your mom has no soul.
No room under your bed to store the disassembled drum set? All it is is poles, the feet, and the actual 4 pad unit.

My bed has drawers under it which are pretty crowded. How much work would it take to disassemble it every time I play though? I'm guessing not too long, but that might be a bit of a hassle. If that's what it takes for me to get the game then, so be it.

There was a video of someone taking it apart and back together (I'll post the link if I can find it). They do pack down to a pretty small space..Think about the size of the box.

Bro,
I think your mom just doesn't want to listen to you bang on the drums. Do you have any idea how many parents are dreading this game? GH was one thing, but now parents have to listen to their no-rythym kids bang on fake drums and their tone-deaf siblings screaming into a cheap mic. This is a parent's worst nightmare.
Try cleaning your room first and then ask for more stuff.

Yeah they are always complaining about my room being messy. I try keeping it as clean as possible though, so I'll just clean it up lots before the game comes out and explain about breaking it apart or whatever. She'll cave in. I'll just use an empty threat, and tell her I can buy drugs instead if she'd prefer. Those are nice and small and easy to store :p

Your mom is finding a reason to not spend $170 on you. You are gullible.

I cant imagine it takin more than 2 mins to take the drums apart. And if you have a closet, put em in there till next time.

Nice video. Additionally, our very own Chris Canfield recently blogged about this very thing:

If you need more bargaining power, tell her that the developers of Rock Band have entrusted you with a most sacred mission (which you must keep confidential) that hinges on purchasing Rock Band this holiday.

Maybe this is just your mom's subtle way of hinting that you need to clean up your room / throw out your trash.

Yeah, clean your room, throw out all the crap that has built up, then show your mom how small the drums pack up to be. Even make a drum-sized clean spot in your room.
You mom might just give you a new excuse not to buy to RB, but at least you'll have a clean room!

They take about 30 seconds to setup and / or tear down, and they store well if you just remove the main two legs. That having been said, even broken down they're still about the size of that RockBand box.
It sounds like you may need to make some decisions about what you're willing to throw out or sell to make room for more. You'll probably need to negotiate with her, make some concessions for space and cleanliness, and reach an agreement both of you can live with. Or you may just have to play it at friends' houses.

well one this about the drums is that I was suprised at how quiet they were.you would have to hit them really hard for it to be loud.

Too bad I have a job and I'm buying it with my own money. K, thanks.
Yeah, I came across that assembly/disassembly video myself earlier. Looks simple. I sent the link to my mom and basically said, "I'm buying it now. The end."

Dude, not just cleaning your room, but also getting rid of all your old stuff that you don't use any more. Maybe give some of it away to friends, donate old clothes you don't wear anymore to the Salvation Army or something.
Your mom is gonna be in that house when you get the game, so if you buy it without her permission, she's gonna give you hell when you DO play. Best to try to stay on her good side and get rid of some of your junk.
At least, that's the mature thing to do... you gotta learn to compromise, cause moms are much more forgiving than roommates are.
