So, I apologize if there's a thread about this with an answer and please, point me to it, because I really need an answer to make a decision.
So, a couple of friends and myself are still deciding between what version of Rock Band we should get. All of us have both systems, 360 and PS3, and we are wondering which one would be the best version for us.
Now, most of us are leaning towards the PS3 because of the wireless, but others are leaning towards the 360 because of a certain feature that we know the PS3 doesn't have. The Dashboard and the ability to invite a friend to play.
Now, this is where our question comes in. We know that the 360s Dashboard will able us to invite each other to play. What about the PS3? We know that the PS3 XMB doesn't have that ability and we cannot even access the XMB while playing a game until Firmware version 2.0 comes out God knows when.
But now, there's a rumor going around. (A friend told me about this and he said he saw it on G4. I've looked all over the place to find something that might clear this as true or false, but I can't find anything at all. And it seems like everyone is over looking this small issue everytime they have a Q&A with Harmonix.) The rumor says that, "Because of the lack of Inviting a friend feature with the PS3 XMB, the PS3 version of Rock Band online functionality will be completely random." Meaning that if you have friends, you won't be able to play with them because you will be paired randomly with people online. Making your friend list in the PS3 completely useless.
So, if this true? Is it not true? Does anyone have any idea how the PS3 version online feature will work? Is there something in the PS3 that counters the 360s Dashboard Invite to Game feature a la Warhawk?
An answer to this will really be appreciate it because it is the only thing that stands in our way to make a decision.
Thanks in advance!
PS: Please, no flaming. I just want an answer to this, I don't want to start a console war.
