In a perfect world, these would be released for purchase before Rock Band comes out...Say maybe...now? I would love to play GH2 with it, who cares if I can't use the solo buttons...WIRELESS!

These aren't 100% new from this source. These are just cut from the latest GI.

EDIT: Whoops Contradiction. lmao

One thing I've noticed though, is that they don't have the little raised line in the centre of the yellow frets.. that could become troublesome

my only complaint is that those guitars look like there going to cost nearly $100. It looks amazing though, like a real Eric Clapton strat. I wonder if they'll sell them in different colors and styles. I'd pay $100+ for a Stevie Ray Vaughan Stratocaster replica.

^Yeah, I would love to see a sunburst colour.......especially since Adrian Smith uses one.

I dont think it will cost that much, it is simply a guitar hero controller with some extra bits added on.......wheres all that cost going to come from?
Although, $100 is already what it costs over here, lol. The exchange rate atm means that £50 = $100 just about. I hate how us brits get ripped off all the time, even europe gets things cheaper than us!

I'd actually prefer if they didn't include that line anymore. It just causes my finger to hurt after a long session of playing, and it's never really helped me keep my place since there's only five of them to begin with.

I'm in total agreement with this... if you have the skill to use 5 buttons (10 in the new Rock Band world) then you shouldn't need the indicator on the yellow key. done!

It looks like for both the Rock Band and GH3 controllers, a sincere effort was made to eliminate the "cartoon-ey" look of the controller and make it appear as authentic and realistic as possible. The Rock Band controller has really succeeded at this, much more so than the GH3 controller.

As an owner of 2 Xplorers already, I was prepared to make due with what I have. The screenshots and info released have given me pause to reconsider. That's a complement to the design team considering I'm happy with what I have now.

I am curious to see what that gray indentation is below the Xbox guide button.

I believe this here is the key problem. Unless you're a guitar player, people don't magically start off with the skill to use 5 buttons. Eliminating the ridge will just make the learning curve that much harder.

Although I do see where the seasoned players are coming from.

With respect, relying on the ridge on the center button is just bad technique. It's a crutch, and it only slows down your reaction time. If you're in the midst of a performance where milliseconds are precious, you don't have time to be groping around for that thing. You are better off to memorize your hand position and use your muscle memory to guide you.

I've broken several people of this habit and they all improved their abilities dramatically afterwards.

They are helping noobs by getting rid of that thing.

QFT.

I've hated that ridge since Easy Mode.

If you say so.. I never found that it created a crutch; just made the transition from four to five frets a lot smoother while my muscle memory did it's thing in it's own time.

Having to look down to the fret board or fumbling about to feel where the hell your fingers have wound up doesn't exactly help speed your reaction time up either.

But whatever; if people can't get it they can always stick with easy and medium, I guess :D

In response to this...

I do see where you're coming from. BUT! I didn't start on Expert, noone does, seasoned guitar players or not. I started just like everyone else - with four fingers on the first four keys, pressing buttons and cursing myself b/c I forgot to strum. Oh! and then there were the attrocious hammer-ons and pull-offs of the first game. GRRR!!

So, my point was that, by the time your ready for Hard/Expert levels, the ridge on the yellow key becomes less of an aid and more of a hinderence.

like someone mentioned in another thread, i'm SO HAPPY THEY DIDN'T GO THE ROUTE OF A TECHNICOLOR DRUMSET.

although i myself would have chosen a wired mic, just so i could throw it around....but that's just me. heh :o but nevertheless, an excellent set of faux instruments. let's just hope the controllers are durable and can take a lot of abuse..\

Personally, I find it helpful. I basically switch back and forth between two hand positions with all 4 fingers (GRYB and RYBO). While I have just about gotten used to where my hands are due to muscle memory and habit, sometimes I get discombobulated and my brain gets confused as to where my fingers are. I can pretty quickly recover by determining whether the ridge is under my ring finger or middle finger. I don't think I use it as a crutch. Besides, if it is causing pain and damage to your fingers, I think you are pressing down too hard. It doesn't take much, and you have to have a pretty light grip to move around freely.
