PS2 can't read disk.

Sorry everyone I know this has probably been asked a million and one times. But my little niece got the Rock Band game today. And we set everything up and put the game in. After all that work unwrapping all the parts and assembling, the disk couldn't be read. Now the question is would I be able to return just the disk to Best Buy for a new one or would I have to go through EA to get it replaced? Thanks a lot.
