I'd like to believe that HMX wouldn't release instruments that they weren't confident with, in terms of durability. But I'm a little bit worried, based on how common these broken instruments seem to be. I understand that sometimes people abuse stuff, but all the time? In every store? It seems a little scary.

I'm not going to bash the drums as hard as I can, but like Ive probably mentioned in other threads, I don't want to treat the instruments like little delicate investments. This isn't an iPhone, or a brand new laptop. They're plastic instruments. I hope they can withstand at least moderately aggressive playing.

My stores instruments worked perfectly but they had these 2 people that were on ALL DAY. Then in addition to that, WOULD NOT GET OFF!! So basically I left Best Buy completely pissed off.

Parents all too often use these displays as daycare for their children while they do their shopping. Unsupervised brats can and WILL find ways to destroy even the most durable toys and electronics.

It pisses me off that game controllers are always broken at stores yet the macs are always in working order.

I would assume that the instruments were tested to see how easily they would break, but who knows. I hope that its just because someone didnt care about the demo, because it would be dissapointing to have a pad go out on the drums all of a sudden after a week. I would assume who ever broke that probably didnt care about how hard he hit the pads considering that the doesent own it, i guess ill just have to take good care of my set lol.

i saw some little Sh*t literally folding her hands together and basically axe chopping the pads, i think that they didnt test the durability for that.

At the BB near me the down-strum on the guitar is a little sketchy. Also, right before I went to play the demo on Sunday, there was this stupid kid clearly abusing the hell out of the drums but they still worked once I stepped up to do my work.

I'm with you. :( I went back today to try the multiplayer experience (brought the girlfriend along to play bass for me), and now the xbox is giving the ring of death.

Brutal.

both guitar and drums survived the week here ok - the drums are little less sensitive than desired, but are playable and the guitar seems perfect still.

The Rego Park BB's guitar was pretty bad, but I dunno, the F-Dale Wal-Mart's was new, i believe, I think it needed some getting used to, I failed "Say it Ain't So" on medium cause I couldnt downstrum the way I wanted to (leaving my finger in the down position) but I realised this was not the right thing to do, so I adjusted and it worked fine. Incredible fun, feels more like playing an actual guitar this way, too. I really like this new Strat and I hope that the bad experience in Rego Park was just because I hadn't refined my strumming to rock band. The F-Dale Wal-Mart's guitar is flawless as of 4:40PM today.

Drums seem durable, they're working fine in the busiest best buy I've ever seen (Rego Park) so, I'm sure they'll be fine, probably a localized case of vandalism.
