View Full Version : Not many fun songs to sing.

Maybe it's just me. I was actually really looking forward to the singing aspect but then looked at the list and saw that many of the songs are really really classic songs that are sung by one-of-a-kind voices that only a handful of us can re-create/imitate. I'm not asking for any more pop-ish but some good Indy Rock where we as the players can actually sing without having to sing in another octave or falsetto/head voice would be greatly appreciated.

Also, whats the news on that mic stand?

I'm sorry you saying we need more indie rock? And too many classics!? Are we looking at the same list? Dude...

As for the mic stand, just go to a music store and buy one, its a standard mic so any stand will work fine.

Yeah, nearly everyone of these songs will be a hoot to sing.

For my mic stand. I'm currently modifying a digeriedoo (yeah, I suck at spelling); how rock is that?

I'm just glad I've got some gen-yoo-ine rock songs to sing.

Karaoke Revolution was fun and all, but their middle of the road, mouldy oldies playlists were only good for family get togethers. This is something I'd enjoy singing by myself, repeatedly, because I can get INTO rock so nicely.

As much as I rag on the paper thin solo mode (which needs improvements in RB2), at least RB is still giving us the ability to approach rock music from two new directions -- vocals and drums.

Trying to replicate those unique voices is half the fun of the singing game anyway. Trust me, you'll do fine, just stick to medium if you are worried... I'm not a strong vocalist but I passed every song I sang in the 90% range. I even got like 85 or 90% on Tom Sawyer doing medium and I don't know the intricacies of Geddy's voice that well. I really don't think it'll be an issue.

My three most anticipated vocal accomplishments?
1. "RUN TOOO THE HIIIIILLLS!!!"
2. Daltrey's "YEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH!!!"
3. Mastering the Flyleaf song (ok, so it's not that great but it will be challenging for sure and the scream will be badass)

They probably won't happen, but you can bet I'll be trying.

Lol, I'm not big on singing at all but dead or alive will be fun.

2. Daltrey's "YEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH!!!"

Rock and roll defined in about 3 seconds. Greatest moment in a song, ever. Long live rock. Long live Rock Band!

RUN FOOOOR YOOOUR LIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEEEIIIIIIIIIIFE!

This and one of the unannounced bonus songs are the reason I love singing in Rock Band, even though I can't sing.

Well, I'm a terrible singer, so this is going to be pretty fun, but anyway, you aren't required to hit the original singer's octave level if it's too out of your range. As long as your pitch is on and timing is good, then you can sing 3 octaves lower for all the game cares.

I can't wait to sing every one of these songs. They all look like a blast to me.

Blitzkrieg Bop is going to be awesome. But not as awesome as Foreplay/Long Time. Which itself will not be as awesome as Behind Blue Eyes.

Yeah, I'm going to have a lot to have fun with, personally. :D

I'm totally psyched for singing. Personally, I can't wait for the beginning of "Highway Star" (eeeeAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!) or mid-"Suffragette City" (Wham bam, thank you ma'am!). AH! It's gonna rock so HARD!

I was all ready to agree with you by just reading the title of the post, but after reading the body of it... I heartily disagree. I sing a lot of karaoke, and the whole fun of it (for me) is to try and mimmick the original singer as closely as possible, or even improve on a bleh song (everyone loves my mega-death metal version of Du Hast). I guess my opinion is unique in that I can do a lot of "voices" like homer simpson and other stuff like that. It becomes a fun part of the challenge in singing a song. I do agree that there aren't many fun songs to sing, but on the basis that many of the newer songs singers are absolutely horrendous (Hole, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Hives) and no matter how hammy I sing those songs, it just won't be as much fun as Run To The Hills or Enter Sandman.

Big teasing meanie! :p

Anyway from the demo songs, Epic, Say It Ain't So, Tom Sawyer, Black Hole Sun, In Bloom and Main Offender were fun to sing. That's a lot actually.
