The Live at Leeds version of "My Generation" features snippits of "See Me, Feel Me", "Sparks" (both from Tommy), and other thematic fragments in between the second section and the third section (first being the actual tune, second being the more frenzied section, and third being the very fast guitar section). It would have been awesome to get a nearly 16-minute song into Rock Band, but anybody besides Keith Moon wouldn't last on drums. It would also be nice to have some more stuff from Tommy.

The Tommy sections are understandable to lose, but there's that one metal riff Pete plays after everyone stops playing that just rules and I would have loved to have that in there.
Yeah HMX said they made a special edit of the live version in there announcement

Or maybe because nobody wants to play a 15 minute long song.

Speak for yourself. I know several songs by bands that go over the 10-minute mark (Hessian Peel by Opeth or Octavarium by Dream Theater, for example) that I'd love to play in the game.

It's too bad that 20 minute mark is the reason why it won't appear in it's full form in RB ever.

I'd play it with you, though. :D
Actually, with the new 'create a setlist' option in RB2, they could release it in its parts and it would probably still work pretty well. Same goes for Dream Theater's 45-minute epic Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence'.
