Ever since we got the official setlist, the biggest deal on a lot of sites is the song Shackler's Revenge. Being the first officially released song from the Guns N' Roses mythical album, Chinese Democracy, doesn't hurt, but word is that the song is tightly underwraps and that RB/GnR are taking tough measure to make sure the song doesn't leak. Plus, the song is missing from the advanced copies some of the industry insiders have, even though some people have gotten their hands on it, apparently.
Does anybody know what's up with the song? Do you think it will leak to the net before the game drops? I'd like to get started on my Axl Rose impression as soon as possible :D

I think it'll be good if Buckethead played on the track, but if not then probably not.

Isn't the song "Better" by Guns n' Roses off of Chinese Democracy? That song is one of my favorite songs now. I hope Shackler's Revenge is similar.
EDIT: Directed to post above me: Buckethead DID do work on the track.

Yes it is. Expect something sort of like this, maybe slightly better since they selected Shacklers Revenge over everything else to prove that they're still awesome.

Thanks. The song has the perfect guitar part. I hope we get this (Better) and I.R.S. down the road for DLC sometime. :)

There are already leaks of most of the songs from Chinese Democracy, I heard a few already. Pretty decent sounding for the most part. Well, Axl at least. And yes, buckethead has been confirmed to at least be on the album, but not necessarily in Shackler's Revenge.
Old GnR still is way better, IMO.

you think they would've choose a better known song than Patience, i think that's there most overrated song. But hell I hope my theory comes true that bands already in rock band 2 will have more DLC, like SOAD had 2 this week, maybe next week we get some songs from bands in rock band. Even Use Your Illusion 1 and 2 i'd be happy with. But Harmonix is known for picking b-side songs, so i wouldnt be surprised if we get songs like from the spaghetii incident.

Haha, I love that vh1 cartoon! Yeah, Better is off of Chinese Democracy so are, like 8 other songs, but Shackler's Revenge is the only one that's officially released. I just know the combined buckethead axlness is going to be amazing. People rag the guy too much for the vma performance--saw them in concert a couple of years ago and he's still got it.

The song better be good if they are taking such great pains to keep it away from the public. GnR has alot to live up to..

LOL, I remember that VMA performance. Until Jimmy Fallon said that was Buckethead, I was thinking the entire time it was Slash in disguise. I believe he (Slash) said in an interview before releasing that Snake Pit album, he would not be seen in public alongside Axl ever again.
I will echo the "we want classic GnR" chant as well.
When Chinese Democracy was first announced back in 1994-95, I was a little excited to see what it would be like. I mean, Slash and I believe Duff had left the band, and I can't remember who else, so I was interested to see what it sounded like. As the years passed, interest/excitement in it waned.
When Slash, Duff, and Matt formed Velvet Revolver, they had the sound (instrument wise), I missed from the classic GnR days.
So yeah, to hear Chinese Democracy had finally been completed, and Shacklers Revenge was in RB2, just didn't do anything for me.
I'm interested in seeing what it sounds like, but yeah....

Even though I am one who was annoyed to see this make the game over something off of Appetite For Destruction, I am still curious to hear it. Since they had to go the promotion route, I really wish they chose "Better" as I do like that song. Have ever since I heard it like 2-3 years ago.
I do have to say though, I am really surprised that this song (Shackler's Revenge) is so mysterious and so well under wraps. In today's day and age, just about everything gets leaked. Hell, the whole Chinese Democracy album was recently leaked, but somehow this one song wasn't. I really would love to find out how they managed that.

Your timeline is a little off. Chinese Democracy wasn't actually announced until 1999 when Axl did a phone interview with Kurt Loder to basically break the silence and announce the inclusion of "Oh My God" on the End of Days soundtrack. He went on to explain that he planned on releasing 3 albums and that the first album would be classic Guns-sounding, the middle album would be more experimental, and the last album would be pretty much the NIN-influenced tracks. The album in 94-95 actually became Slash's Snakepit's "Its Five o' Clock Somewhere". Slash left in '96 and Duff quit and Matt was fired in '97.
As for VR, meh. It just never did anything for me. I like the guys, but the album just lacked chemistry that wasn't of the pharmaceutical persuasion. It was more like an STP cover band that sounded vaguely like Guns to me.
As you can tell, I am extremely pumped for Chinese Democracy and for a song to be included in the game that NONE of us diehards have ever heard is icing on the cake....but seriously, anything off of Appetite for Destruction would be very welcome on my 360. Hell...anything off of the Illusion albums (save for My World) would be welcome as well.

Actually it wasn't. The songs leaked are still demos. They had rough edits and some still needed tweaking in the levels. Not only that, but with Axl still standing firm on multiple album releases within months of each other, there's no indication that all the songs we've heard will even be on Chinese Democracy. The songs that have been leaked thus far number 10 (11 if you count the small clip of "Cockaroach" that briefly surfaced in 2006) and total about 53 minutes worth of music....I think Axl plans to pack the disc as much as he can...which leaves about 20 more minutes worth of music. And I can already think of 4 tracks that haven't surfaced yet...Thyme, The General, This I Love, and Sorry. There's much more yet to be heard.

I have to admit, from a Rock Band point of view, this worries me. I could see them constantly releasing songs off of all these new albums and completely ignoring Appetite. At least with just one album they could release like 3 songs and then be done with the promotion and move on to the classics. Now, they could easily spend a year or more releasing 3 songs off of one album, 3 songs off of the next, so on and so forth.
At some point patience will run thin if this is the case.

What are you talking about, HMX releases b-side tracks.... They might do that once in a while.
As for bands on RB2?
They've released 2 of SOAD's HITS and a Testament HIT. I expect more bands from rb2 every week after 2 weeks in a row.
I bet next week another one will be announced. And it will be a hit.... maybe GNR.

I could go into why we will not see any songs from now until RB2 from bands like AC/DC or GnR or Journey, but it would come across as insulting to SOAD and Testament and that wouldn't be fair.

The only reason I care is because Buckethead is playing guitar on the track and Brain is playing drums =)
I am pretty sure Axl has been pulling a Trent and purposely leaking these "un-mixed songs" ANTIQUIET is the latest leak afaik and it sounds awesome and you can really hear some epic tasty moments brought by BigB (Buckethead).

Buckethead hasn't been confirmed to play on this track. First someone said, "Hey I wonder if Buckethead played on that track," and then that fake interview video said something about it being Buckethead. That's it. No one else has said anything.
I just don't want people to expect Buckethead and then get disappointed.

Harmonix said in the IGN interview that "oh man it's got this crazy solo from Buckethead"
Buckethead is featured prominently on the album (mostly because everything Bumblefoot plays doesn't sound as good as Bucket [inb4 flaming]) it's a safe bet Buckethead is playing guitar on this song as it's been mentioned a few times and it's supposed to be the one of the hardest guitar songs in the game ;)
