I am for a couple of reasons. It sounds like this is going to be one of the hot and hard to find xmas gifts this season, so selling it on ebay around mid december seems like you might make a little money. But other than that, i would love to have two drum sets and two mics. I enjoy the wireless Les Paul guitar, so i would use it as a bass.
What do yall think?

Same here. At first I pre-ordered in full at two locations just to see who pulls off the midnight release but I am not considering doing the Ebay thing or just selling it to a friend who won't get one because his stupid a@@ refuses to preorder.

No, not unless I plan on taking out a loan.
And you people are the reason there is going to be a shortage of bundles. I hate you all. lol :D
But seriously, if I miss out on a bundle after pre-ordering it months ago and I see any of you walking out of the video game store.....it's on. :p

Hopefully you wont miss out. Preordering means that they are guaranteing you a copy. That is how it has always been at my gamestop...

I'm actually really thinking about doing this now. I guess it didn't really cross my mind before. But I could get the extra bundle, then sell the stuff individually. Could easily sell the drums for $100 on eBay I think.

I pre-ordered two, but you are exactly right, bro. For all of us who have 2 on hold, that is one less person rocking out. Who knos how many other people are doing this as well. It's not right, I feel bad and I hate you for it. :D

Yeah...I just decided to do it....I'll just sell the mic and game...shouldn't be too hard.
Where is everyone preordering? Is Amazon.com reliable?
P.S. I already have one reserved at Gamestop....

I've thought about doing that. Hell, I was thinking about preordering a PS3 a year ago just so I could sell it.
But then again, there are so many people on this forum that might end up not getting the bundle because of demand, I'd suggest you look at potentially selling the bundle to someone here before trying to make a profit on eBay.

Ugh, I hate when people do that. I hate how people take advantage of others to make a few bucks.

Re-thinking it, it's probably too late now. I know people said that Amazon stopped taking pre-orders. And now, some sites are saying "ships on the 27th" which means there will be a second distribution out. If someone hasn't pre-ordered by now, they shouldn't expect it on the 20th.
I'll just stick with my own bundle, but I'm still hoping for a midnight release!

I pre-ordered one from Amazon back in August or whenever they first started taking them. Then when I found out that EBgames did the guaranteed street date thing with overnight, I pre-ordered from them, too.
I still have both pre-orders open but I think I may end up canceling one of them but then try to get a 2nd bundle from Target or Walmart on Tuesday AM (lucky for me, I don't have to be at work in the morning).

Probably could make you a good amount of money, if they do sell out as expected, if you feel like you have enough money go for it, me personally i cant do this, just dont have enough money lol.

I don't think it's right but I'm not going to tell you what you should or shouldn't do. Hopefully, it backfires on you cause I think it's messed up that you'd do that.

Its not taking advantage of other people, its taking advantage of the situation. Having the forsight to see that this game is going to be good and that there is going to be low supply vs high demand. Its all business baby. What do you think the stock market is all about? Forsight and capitalism.
Anyways, its not too late at gamestop. I just swung by one yesterday and they said that they have plenty of spots available.

I think the question is if i go the ebay route, what would make more money? Selling the bundle outright, or selling them as individual peices?
MdubMedia

Amazon is still taking preorders ^^^ ??
Anyway, I just want to be clear, I'm not reselling mine, I just want the extra drums + guitar!

Since it is the x-mas season, i think selling the bundle would probably be the best/easiest bet. If i missed out on Rock Band and wanted to buy the bundle off of ebay, i wouldnt want to peice it together, i would probably pay more to get it all together. Plus i would save on the multiple listing and paypal fees.
MdubMedia
11-06-2007, 03:49 AM
but then think about the people that only want one instrument or something, like I do...lol...you could make money off them
jonfitzsimon
11-06-2007, 03:53 AM
damn. you are right. Individual peices will create some great demand especially if someones mom buys them the game by itself for xmas not knowing about the bundle. Then the kid (assuming) already has a guitar from GH and he really wants a drumset or something. You are right i need to ponder this a while. What does everyone else think?

I'd love to be able to get two bundles so I could have a Strat for bass, but unfortunately I don't have the money to pull that off. So now I'm trying to find another solution - I really don't want to pay 50 or 60 bucks for an explorer just to fill in until I pick up another Strat, but I also don't want to wait until next year to play with a full band.

^^^ yeah, that's what I was going to have to do, but why not spend another $200, sell the mic and game and end up paying about $50 for the guitar and $50 for the drums?
Come on...drum offs will be so fun!

I'd love to do that, but I just can't come up with another 170 bucks in time. I've got three kids to buy Christmas presents for and that is taking priority right now. I agree that drum offs will be insanely cool though.

Its not taking advantage of other people, its taking advantage of the situation.
You are ultimately taking advantage of the person who now has to buy through you at a nicely elevated price instead of being able to buy from the store because you and others like you have depleted the retailer's stock. And if there is something wrong with the game, are you going to offer them an exchange/refund policy? I don't think so. So not only are they are paying more, they are taking a higher risk, so you can line your pockets with a few bucks.
The retailer doesn't care, EA/MTV/HMX doesn't care, they still all made their money.
I still think it's a disgusting practice.

You can call it a disgusting practice if you want, but it is capitalism. That is what our country is all about. All of the billionaires out there are cutthroat businessmen, exploiting whatever angle they can.

FYI, GameStop.com has taken off it's Pre-Order for Rockband Bundle for the PS3, lucky duck me pre ordered one last month! So i'm in!

I've preordered from GameStop and Amazon.com. If Rock Band gets sold out everywhere I will be probably selling the one from GameStop and keeping the one from Amazon.com Is Circuit City B&M doing preorders?

I would sell the bundle, instead of breaking it up. I have 2 pre-orders in, because I wasn't sure where I was going to be for Thanksgiving, and when the game was coming out. So one is here at school, and one is back home. I was going to just cancel the one at home, now that its not longer coming out on Black Friday, but I'm beginning to think I'll just sell it.
If you break it into pieces, its hard to say how much you can really get for each one, plus shipping will be a pain. You can always just charge the bidder for the shipping, but some people are turned off by what they see as high shipping prices, and will factor that into how much they're willing to bid on the item.
As a bundle, I think you have a greater chance to make money, because there are going to be a lot of people who just want to get everything in one big swoop, so they might pay extra just for that convenience.
As for it not being fair...that's part of life. Everyone had the same chance to go reserve a copy, or two or three. Don't blame the people who pre-ordered two back in August, just because you can't go in and buy one off the shelf on November 21st. People wouldn't do this, unless they could. And if you don't want to pay a premium on something, then just wait until more of them hit the market, and buy one from a store.
If some parent of some spoiled kid insists on getting their kid RB for Christmas, I wouldn't feel the slightest bit sad that they paid me an extra $50 or more, just because they were too stupid to reserve it ahead of time. I've seen Jingle All The Way. I know how it works.

I am pretty sure I will be doing the same. Actually now that I think about it I'll probably bundle it with my guitar from the set I get this way they will get two cause I really don't want the rock band one.

yeah, i am going to sell the entire bundle. I thought about it and it will be hard to get more than $50-$60 for the game, because you can buy it seperately. Same with the guitar. It will be hard to get more than $50-$60 for it because there are other options out there. The only real part of the bundle you can make some money from are the drums. But it probably isnt worth all the hassle setting up 4 different auctions and get ripped off by ebays double dipping scam with paypal on every auction.

Yeah, I'm totally buying two bundles.
...that is, if, after doing so, I can still afford my caviar that new monocle that I so desperately need.

The people buying it from him are the ones running up the price. If they dont want to pay that much then they wont buy it. But if they really want it that bad they will pay more for it. Its not like he is going to start the bidding at a high price(im guessing).
jonfitzsimon
11-07-2007, 11:22 AM
Yep! I will gladly start the bidding at $150. I wont make anyone bid on my auction. If they want it they can bid whatever they think is reasonable. But thankfully around christmas time, soccer mom's definition of reasonable gets a little blurry.
