The New PS3 commercial VS. the New Xbox 360 commercial

I saw both this last Sunday. And in my opinion, the PS3 commercial actually made me want to buy a PS3! I was surprised at how into it I was. All the transforming black creatures and machines to the tune of that "Ladies And Gentlemen" song. I was rocked and blown away! It got me excited for games up 'til now I had absolutely NO interest in; Ratchet & Clank, Heavenly Sword.

Then the Xbox 360 commercial comes on... Little kids singing a POISON song!?! If I didn't own an Xbox 360 already, this commercial would make me not want to buy one. Also, they didn't show any actual gameplay. All they do is plunk down three games: Bioshock, Mass Effect and Halo 3. In advertising, you have to assume nobody knows about your product no matter how well known it is. Let's say I know nothing about gaming-How am I supposed to know it's even a commercial for videogames? This was a major FAIL for Xbox.

I had the exact same feeling. If I didn't already own a PS3, that commerical would have made me go out and buy one.

I like the 360 commercial as well, it's a catchy song lol, but that PS3 commercial when it is shown in it's entirety (blu-ray, home, PSN) it really makes you want one.

I've also seen a jump in marketing on the games as well. I saw an influx of Heavenly Sword commercials, And The Simpsons game and Assassin's Creed commercials I saw both showed exclusively the PS3 logo name at the end, and not the 360 Live which usually pops up.

I'm glad they are finally starting to advertise and not put a baby or David Wright in a white room and have it be all artsy-fartsy, people don't want to see that.

I give them a congrats as well, it's an entertaining commercial.

the ps3 commercial was really well done. They both target much different audiences though, so its hard to say which is better...each market will determine which is more effective.

I thought the commercials were decent eye candy to represent the PS3. I was impressed as well.

I think the 360 one sucked. You have the gal at the end give that little stupid smirk.

I liked both commercials. I don't have a 360, but no matter how great any commercial is, it won't make me go get a console. That being said, did anyone else find it odd that the 360 commercial was happy, with kids singing, and then they throw down three M-rated games?

I applaud Sony for at least showing a variety of games (both genre, and rating wise). Showing actual gameplay is certainly nice.

I actually found myself watching wrestling last night (wasn't bad as previous nights. Stone Cold showed up and gave a hot ***** a beer bath ^_^). Anyways, a really *** 360 commercial came on with Halo 3. The PS3 commercials that came on were completely orgasmic though.

That has both PS3 ads. Just saw the other 360 one a while ago. Different games,GH 3 and I don't even remember the other 2.

I too found the 360 commericial weird, considering it had a community/family coming together feel with kids singing.

And the games are Halo 3, Mass Effect, and BioShock.

But the PS3 commerical is just awesomeness

i myself am a 360 fanboy i absolutly hate the PS3 but in the 360 commercial they throw the 360 console from 20 feet in the air to the ground and at the start of the commercial they say Rated M For Mature and then they say play the games everyone can play and well not everyone can play M Games

Little known fact. This is actually a safer way to play with the 360 than standing it vertically.

but only with arcade games otherwise it would horribly scratch up the disc. Unlike the PS3 with it's near scratch proof blu-ray discs. :p
