Online play: RB/RB2

Just a random thought I was wondering, don't recall seeing the answer anywhere yet.

Seeing as RB is being seen as a platform, and if you choose not to buy RB1 you can still buy RB2 DLC and stuff.

Will players playing on RB1 be able to play online with people playing RB2??
or
Will it have to be RB1 v RB1 and RB2 v RB2?

I'm guessing not and it's the latter, but just wondering if this has been mentioned anywhere.

I would wager that it would be game playing game.

But it also wouldn't surprise me that if in some way they managed to bridge the gap, although who owning Rock Band 2 will eagerly want to play Dani California?

Because the game uses different modes of online play and has a COMPLETELY different list of songs, I'd assume that multiplayer will not be cross game. The DLC may be shared, but the majority of players have very little, if any DLC.

It hasn't been said anywhere, but I think it'd be a really bad idea to go cross game. You'd end up (quite often, possibly) with a band that has no available songs because 1 guy has RB1 with no DLC and another has RB2 with no DLC.
