View Full Version : Which drum kit will you use with RB2?

"Custom" would refer to any third-party kits or modifications on the market right now, such as the Goodwoods mod, or if you customly added some frisbee cymbals or something, or if you are using an electronic drumset and managed to get it to work with Rockband. Also if you plan on customizing the RB2 kit with currently available mods (such as putting the Goodwoods mod on the RB2 kit) then that also is option 4.

Rock Band 2 drums.

You should have an "other" category for those wishing to customize the RB2 drums. I'll be getting the RB2 drums w/ cymbals (combined with GWM, if possible)

Hoping to use the RB2 kit sans modifications. ;)
edit: well, the cymbal addons, but I mean no mods to make it "work" properly. :)

Well, knowing me, i'll probably just get the disc for RB2, and buy the new guitar and kit for GH:WT, and play drums on RB2 on my RB1 kit.
Although I can barely play them, i'll stay rockin' Super Expert on Guitar. xD

ION Kit depending on ratings, otherwise Rock band 2 Kit

Leaning more toward the ION currently since there apparently won't be a bundle at launch, but I'll probably wait and see some ION reviews.

My existing kit works fine, it's my nagging wife I need to replace.

Well if the ION kit is all it is cracked up to be, then I will be switching drum kits. I will be using the ION as well as my GoodWoods Stealth's. However If I discover that my Pintech kit will work with the Rock Brain, then I will be using that one most of the time.

Well, the poll options don't apply for me. My plan is to buy the RB2 kit for the pressure sensitivity, the wireless, and the expansion ports (since they'll be read by the game differently than just splitting the regular signal from the pads). Then, I'll take a hacksaw to it and cut the pads off, put the important bits in a project box, and mount it on my custom mesh head kit:

Then I figure I'll get either the Madcatz cymbals or the Ion cymbals if the quality is good enough.

Dang that's a sick custom kit. For that one you should go with the fourth option though.

I wanted to check out the MadCatz Premium drum kit. Where is that option?

I'm pretty sure they cancelled that and are just releasing the cymbals as additions to the default new kit. Correct me if I'm wrong though.

True .. though I'm kicking out the RB1 controller portion that's on there now.

at the moment I am leading towards either an ION kit or a low end e-drum kit with a midi module... or the GHWT kit.
(waiting on reviews on everything however)

I'm probably gonna hang on to my RB1 kit. If that breaks, then I'll buy the new RB2 kit.

I probably would buy the GH:WT-drumkit or something that is compatible with both games and then upgrade to the real thing if it is any fun to play.

The GH:WT kit has not been announced as being compatible for both games, so it probably won't be. However, it has been announced that all of the RB kits will work in GH:WT, and the note tracks will be compressed from 5 to 4.

Unless something significant changes between now and launch, I'll be using:
RB2 kit + GWM Stealth heads + Madcatz cymbals

I'm happy with my modded RB1 set for now. If something happens to that I'll probably go with the RB2 set maybe with a hi-hat option... as long as I can still use my rockpedal.

I would love to have the ION kit but there's no way i'm spending that much on a drum set for a game. Sticking with the RB2 stock drums with the cymbal add ons.

RB2 kit + GWM Stealth heads + Madcatz cymbals + Rock Pedal + Gibralter pad.
I have a feeling the MC Cymbals may be a bit loud though, so I may be modding them. We'll see.

Rock Band 2 Kit and hoping to get the Mad Catz drum cymbals. Also I will take my old RB1 pedal and use it for the double connector for a double bass pedal.

I'm sticking with my RB1 kit. It still works fine, and I'm not even that much of a drummer.
