Out of the genres Indie Rock, Emo, and Metal, which do you think have the weirdest lyrics? Here are a few examples.
Spineless from the start, sucked into the part
Circus comes to town, you play the lead clown
Spreading his disease, living by his story
Falling to your knees, suffer for his glory
Metallica - Leper Messiah - Metal
I'd drown all these crying babies
If I knew that there mothers wouldn't cry
I'd hold them down and I'd squeeze real soft
And let a piece of myself die
Brand New - Handcuffs - Indie
And I can't make it on my own.
Because my heart is in Ohio.
So cut my wrists and black my eyes.
So I can fall asleep tonight, or die.
Hawthorne Heights - Ohio Is For Lovers - Emo
Judging by these three examples alone I'd definantly say Indie.

Gonna go with metal because it draws heavily from imagination:
Opeth's Baying of the Hounds:
I hear the baying of the hounds
In the distance, I hear them devouring
Pest ridden jackals of the earth
Diabolical beasts and roaming the forests
In wait and constant protectors
Calling you to sit by his side
Your self loathing image in his flesh
A revelation upon which you linger
His words are flies
Swarming towards the true insects
Feasting on buried dreams
And spreading decay upon your skin
His eyes spew forth a darkness
That cut through and paralyze
Casts light upon your secrets
Forced to confront your enemies
His mouth is a vortex
Sucking you into it's pandemonium
Fools you with a helping hand of ashes
Reached out in false dismay
His body is a country
The cities lay dead and beyond despair
Friends turned enemies unable to come clean
In a rising fog of reeking death
Everything you believed is a lie
Everyone you loved is a death burden
So you take comfort in him
And you are receptive to stark wishes
No longer struggling to declare your stand
You would inflict no harm to others
They are unaware of you
And in a loop of futile events
You are everything, they are nothing
Drown in the deep mire
With past desires
Beneath the mire
Drown desire now with you
Lined up verses on dead skin
"The tainted lips of the stranger
Resting upon hers"
And I embrace bereavement
Everything beloved is shattered anyway
I would devote myself to anyone
I would accept any flaws
I am too weak to resist
Tension vibrating with horror
Finding the outcast in my eyes
Pushing nerves on a puppet
Endless poison in my veins
Clean intent now tainted with death
And so, cold touch now inhumane
Every waking hour
Awaiting a reverie to unfold
And now they are calling me
Louder by the minute
The baying of the hounds
Calling me back to my home

those are more disturbing than weird. anything heavily psychadelic induced will have the weirdest lyrics in my opinion.
Ex:
Picture yourself in a boat on a river,
With tangerine trees and marmalade skies
Somebody calls you, you answer quite slowly,
A girl with kaleidoscope eyes.
Cellophane flowers of yellow and green,
Towering over your head.
Look for the girl with the sun in her eyes,
And she's gone.
Rush also has some pretty weird lyrics in the latter half of their career. I don't know any examples though.

well i've always considered metal to have cool lyrics
emo is usually depressing or *****/wimp lyrics
so by process of emilination (not really) i'll say indie is the weirdest, but i'm sure u can find exceptions for my opinoin

Definately indie. Metal and emo are usually slanted towards certain types of lyrics (i.e. anger, self-deprecation, sadness, etc.) while indie often incorporates elements of pretty much anything. Here's an odd excerpt from They Might Be Giants' Ana Ng:
Make a hole with a gun perpendicular
To the name of this town in a desktop globe
Exit wound in a foreign nation
Showing the home of the one this was written for
My apartment looks upside down from there
Water spirals the wrong way out the sink
And her voice is a backwards record
It's like a whirlpool, and it never ends
Ana Ng and I are getting old
And we still haven't walked in the glow
Of each other's majestic presence
Listen Ana hear my words
They're the ones you would think I would say
If there was a me for you
All alone at the '64 World's Fair
Eighty dolls yelling "Small girl after all"
Who was at the DuPont Pavilion?
Why was the bench still warm? Who had been there?
Or the time when the storm tangled up the wire
To the horn on the pole at the bus depot
And in back of the edge of hearing
These are the words that the voice was repeating:
Ana Ng and I are getting old
And we still haven't walked in the glow
Of each other's majestic presence
Listen Ana hear my words
They're the ones you would think I would say
If there was a me for you
They don't need me here and I know you're there
Where the world goes by like the humid air
And it sticks like a broken record
Everything sticks like a broken record
Everything sticks until it goes away
And the truth is we don't know anything
I'm not really sure if TMBG are considered indie, so I apoligize if they aren't. I don't want to have a horde of angry hipsters on my tail now, do I?

Somone once told me Ana Ng was written about loving a girl on the other side of the world...so it makes sense....to some degree.
The dude made a big explosion to get across the world faster.

I always do, haha. I guess lyrics about moving to Montana in order to grow and sell dental floss at least qualifies as weird, haha.

Brutal Death Metal.
Postmortal Coprophagia by Devourment
Claiming my next victim for a filthy feast
Nauseating hunger for human feces
These lesion ridden ****s mean nothing to me
But their bowels possess the key to my nourishment
Unhealthy hunger escalating from the stench fortified fudge packed full of nutrients
Sexually abusing nursing home patients
As they **** themselves I gorge on the caustic mess
Violently consuming ****,
Pulverizing my fist in your ****ing’ face
Postmortally I feast on the wastes of the ****ing’ elderly
Crusty ****ing’ filthy beings, consuming their contaminants
Undying love for the blackened fluids of stiffs
Boiling blood and brains of my victims...bleed
Necrocopromaniac, pestilential being
The sight of feces rockets me into a ****ing’ frenzy
Hemorrhoidal veins rupture slick secretions
Upon my tongue, sanguinary analingus
Sucking on their ****s till they burst
How I love it when they bleed on me
Fist ****ing diseased anal cavities
plunging blades into their skin till they've died
Skin desclamates and slips right the **** off of your bones
Feeling no regard for the lives of these handicapped ****s
These hundred year old pigs produce my reward,
their bodily wastes
Killing is what keeps me sane
so I think I'll just rip your ****ing head clean off
Coprophagia
I kill mother****ers everyday
Let these hordes of dead ****s unite
To mutilate the human species, I take pride in killing
Nothing will ever stop me from ****ing murdering
Upheaving these human stockpiles of brown sediment
Extremely aroused by the sight of ****ing pain
Ma*****ting feverishly to the rhythm of their prayers
Coming on their infected bed sores
Rectally bleeding, I sodomize the elderly
Spewing rapidly, A bed pan bon-appetit
despoiling, despoilment
Raping these elderly pieces of ****
While slobbering sewage how sweet it is
Toothless and sick swallowing ***
My blistering pecker seeps
Plunging my vile *********** ****
enter the Alzheimer’s wound
Now my **** wrapped with disease
What the ****? My **** now bleeds
Hemorrhaging, blood drips on my feet
Sticking to your encrusted sheets
Wallowing in pools of steaming ****
Inhaling the stench of filthiness
Bleed for me
Terrorizing me the elderly have turned against me
Slowly they creep to me like filthy zombies
Old *****es sliding sewing needles in my ****
Scraping at my bowels
Smearing **** on their dirty *****
Chewing on my filthy meat within
Lacerating every inch of my flesh
Bleeding slow, my body bloats
Pulverizing their fists in my ****ing’ face
Hope i don't get banned O_o

Agreed on the psychedelic lyrics... China Cat Sunflower? I am The Walrus? Awesome but weird...

Somone once told me Ana Ng was written about loving a girl on the other side of the world...so it makes sense....to some degree.
The dude made a big explosion to get across the world faster.
That was one of the two most popular interpretations of the song. The other is that the narrator represents the Western world and Ana (since Ng is a Vietnamese surname) signifies the Eastern side, as a metaphor for how turbulent the relationship between the two hemispheres are/where. TMBG aren't particularly known for explaining the story behind their lyrics, though...

It's not out of the three, but I'm going to assume that Avant-Garde's lyrics are weird. Only because it'd be weird not to have lyrics as far out as their music is!

Metal has the coolest
Indie has the weirdest
Emo has the most annoying
