Okay, so I went to BestBuy to play the awesomeness that is Rock Band and this asian kid comes up and plays, looks like he's about 10 or something. He watches me dominate Expert for a few songs and then he starts to play the drums on Easy. Even though it's Easy, he did really good for a 10 year old. So then a man around his 50s came over and really annoyed me. He never talked and in the middle of a single player song, he started beating on the drums like they were real and pressed the Xbox Guide Button WHILE I WAS PLAYING!!! So he walked away and I pressed it again.

What are your stories?

I went and played earlier this week at a Best Buy. There was a couple in their 20's playing together, so I was waiting. Then they switched instruments, so I decided to just play a song on GH3 while I waited. The girl was playing guitar, and looked over at me playing The Metal on Expert, she pretended to throw her guitar down because I made her look bad lol.

Anyway, they finished but I was still in a song. Then another 2 guys walked up, in their early 20's. They played, then switched instruments, played more, finally I decided to just stand behind them and wait.

One of the dudes started going nuts on the drums and he actually dropped a drumstick while playing lol. He was frantically trying to play 1-handed while trying to get the other stick.

After another song or 2, I finally got in on it. I had played the guitar on the RB Tour, but never the drums. I played 2 songs on Guitar with one of the dudes, then we switched, and from there I played almost 6 songs on the drums. They were so much fun! I'm dying to finally get the set in my house on the 20th!

P.S. I would have said WTF if the dude hit the Guide Button lol

I played at a little demo station set up in a Wal-Mart. Just had drums and one guitar. I started off playing drums, then let my wife play. As I was watching her I noticed we had started to draw a crowd, one ten year old boy, a 20-somethings couple w/ a little baby in their cart, and a 40 something mom just passing by. The 10 yr-old looked really interested in it, so I talked him up as my wife was finishing, asked if he wanted to play drums while I played on guitar. He couldn't work up the nerve to do it, so once she was done, and I realized no one else was going to jump in I grabbed the guitar and started asking for people to play drums w/ me. The guy from the 20-something couple finally agreed to though I damn near had to beg him. We played Paranoid, me on Hard, him on Easy. Finished it, but only 3-star. We drew an even bigger crowd by that point though and when we were finished he told his wife, "Christmas, me...".

Hope I get back there before release...

My story is bursting into the Best buy doors like a small child in a candy store, going to the demo booths, and realising I got there many moons too early and now the demo at my best buy isnt working so I cant play it.

Oh man! I forgot to mention in my story. One of the dudes I was playing with made the comment "Guitar Hero is still so much better. Guitar Hero 3 is the franchise man, it really is" Oh, what little does he know :)
But he was playing on Medium on GH3 and then tried Rock Band and was failing out, I had to save him on drums.

Then there was another kid who was playing GH3 on Expert, so he was checking out the Strat while I was playing drums, I asked if he wanted to play. He put it on Expert and failed out so fast lol I guess the timing window required too much skill and precision on Rock Band :D

Christ, what was he playing? I'm not the greatest at GH, but I had absolutely no trouble with RB Guitar on expert, save my first play adjusting to the guitar itself.

Me and my friend playing Dani California and him getting text messages the next day from people who saw us play saying how awesome we are

You know what? It was actually Dani California! I don't know if he couldn't adjust to the Strat or what, but he came close to failing out before the chorus came. He failed the solo, I had to save him back, and then towards the end he almost failed again.

I believe it was also Wanted Dead Or Alive that he had failed out at least once also.

But this was the same kid I just saw get 90% something on Expert on "The Metal" on GH3 with a score of 170,000+, but when it came to Rock Band, I don't think he had the rhythm or something I don't know. It wasn't the guitar because I had no problem, and 3 people before we played had no hardware problems happen either.

I threw my right drum stick twice. :(

Thank god they are tied down.

And we thought Wii remotes going through TVs were bad... :o

The Best Buy stations are fun and all, but I can't wait until I have the game at home... I had no problem with rocking out in the store (even singing), but turning on the vocal overdrive while you're there just makes you feel silly. "Wooooo!"

You're not doing it right.

This is how you activate vocal overdrive in a Best Buy kiosk:

"Attention all shoppers. We are now offering iPhones for $99 as a limited promotion. Only five units are available. First come, first serve."

You're not supposed to come back. The idea is that you sneak the whole Rock Band demo setup out to your car while the emergency personnel are cleaning out the dead.

Such is the power of rock. \m/

I've already told my band that I expect some emphatic "HEY! HO! LET'S GO!" from them during Blitzkrieg Bop.

I've played Rb at Best Buy on two seperate occasions. The first time I was with my fiance and we waited for it seems like half an hour to get on. There was this guy on the drums that was going absolutely friggin insane, pounding the skins as hard as he could, breaking into a sweat. He actually made a comment about how much of a workout playing drums was.

When I finally got a chance to get on, I of course immediately grabbed the guitar. I was extremely impressed by the overall quality of the Fender. We attempted Jet's "Are You Gonna Be My Girl" (her choice) as our first song. She, not being a drummer, failed out on easy and gave up. But while we were playing a few girls had begun to crowd around us and were commenting on Guitar Hero and this "new one" that you could play drums on. After the disappointing failure of my fiance, I invited one of them to get on the drums, and we proceeded to rock some Weezer. She commented how she played real drums and that she was excited to try out RB because she had heard about it. During the song I noticed that a crowd was forming around us and heard a lot of "that's so cool!" comments.

After the song was over people were complimenting us on how awesome we were (true) and saying how much fun it looked like. In true rock fashion I left them wanting more.

As much as I'm looking forward to getting this game in my house, I will miss the small crowds of strangers watching me play at Best Buy. It makes the experience that much more authentic.

haha so true...I was there with my wife and then my parents were in the mall area so they stopped by to check it out. When they came up, they were like " You're not nervous with this crowd around you?" So I looked behind me ( while playing lol ) and see about 6 people just standing there, including an employee. I shrugged it off, got back into it, yellimg out the words ( to the best I could ) while banging on the drums. It was fun, I don't understand why some people get "nervous" in front of a lil crowd or in public. Who cares what they think? You'll never see them again anyway :)

Go in the middle of a huge mall, the one near me has a big raised platform, and set up somewhere near the center.

I plan to bring a TV and all of the peripherals and set up on the platform. Just to see how many people watch.

Is that legal?

When I was at the SF BestBuy, some 10 year old kid joins and grabs the guitar and selects expert mode. According to him he plays a real guitar and he knows how to play the game. So in the middle of the game he decides that he sucks while I was rocking with the drums and cancels the game. I was like "Whaaa...?" He says that it was too hard for him and he wanted to try something else and complained how different the guitar was. Oh boy.... I did try the guitar and had no problems playing in easy mode.

I had a little experience yesterday! I went to the Best Buy near my job. I get there and this couple was playing the Jet song. And they were doing alright. I think they were playing on Medium. They played another song, and after that I was in the clear to jam. So I grab the drum stick, and put it on medium, thinking I am not ready to do hard or expert.

I pick Say It Ain't So, and start rocking out to that, but I did notice the drums weren't as responsive as they were last week. I am banging away and having a grand old time.. and this kid on GH3 is killing it on expert and it distracted me momentarily.

He stops and asks if he could join in on Rock Band.. like he needs to ask!! So he picks up the guitar and puts it on hard.. and he lost.. I thought maybe he was just good at button mashing on GH3 or something, because when I tried it on hard the other day it was fine!

So we swap, and I put it on hard too. And I notice that even though I am hitting all the notes... I am losing points because the controller is counting each strum as 2-3 strums..

After that, this kid left and I was left just banging on the drums all alone for about 45 minutes! No audience, no nothing.. I loved it

I played Tom Sawyer on expert and had maybe 1 person stop and look. Then I was playing In Bloom. That is when I started to get a small audience. I was just bashing away on the pads as if I were playing the real drums!

I am so psyched for when this game comes out! I almost cannot contain the excitement!
