Well just a little bit down this page http://www.1up.com/do/gameOverview?cId=3158412 on the right side, 1up has their popularity status for rock band:
POPULARITY
#15 of 19,948 on 1UP
#5 of 503 on Xbox 360
#1 of 39 in Music
Well 15 out of almost 20,000 is pretty good, and #1 out of music is great, i guess that would put rock band in front of guitar hero 3 then.

It's only #27 of 388 in PS3. Hm.

Silly fanboys. =P
But seriously, there's no way there could be 26 games on the PS3 that are more popular than Rock Band.

I can think of a few highly anticipated games, maybe 5 or so...but 26? Thats either really bad news for the PS3 Rock Band bundle (which on this site when asked which version they were getting was split about 50/50 with the 360 bundles) or it's great news for the PS3 because people are really starting to get into the games.

I wasn't even aware that there were 25 games on the PS3 worth being mentioned in the same sentence as Rock Band, let alone more popular... No, not fanboyism, I would say the same thing about the 360, although there are definitely more options there...
Bear in mind that RB is more entrenched with the XB360 crowd than the PS3 group. There have been advertisements on XBox Live, and the entire tour was co-sponsored by XBox...

At this point I would rate Ice Climber higher than GHIII. That game was so utterly dissappointing. It felt so good to trade it and the controller in. Yes, I was comparing it to GHII, but why shouldn't I?
I hope the note mapping system in RB is what I'm used to in GHII, and I think it will be.

I'm not sure about 1up specifically, but it seems in general that when IGN and other sites link a story about Rock Band on their front page they link it to the XBox version of the article. So the majority of the time, whether you're buying the PS3 version or 360 version, you're reading an article under XBox 360. I wouldn't take the PS3 thing too seriously.

Anyone I ask about Rock Band is like "ehh...GH3's got it beat. I don't think it's gonna be that great".
I think what they don't realize is all of the DLC and features, AND the drums.
Learning to play drums in RB is going to be a new challenge. WTF don't people understand about that? It's gonna be sweet.

One thing I've noticed is the comments on Kotaku on Rock Band stories.
Prior to, oh we'll say October 28th, there were a lot of negative comments towards the game: "GH3 has the better set list" "Wires? WTF?" "Too expensive, not pay $200 sorry" etc.
Now, the vast majority of the comments are "Can't wait for this game!"
Methinks it's a combination of disappointment with GH3 and the awesomeness of the demos in Best Buy/Wal-mart. And once reviews start rolling in with "GotY" spattered in mid-sentance of awesome, it's only going to be more so.
