This is the mark of the new Campaign from the Mtv Network studio for Rock Band a Vh1 Inspired Mockumentry. It is worth a look. I wonder if it suggests that Amy Lee along with Evanescence will make an appearance. I think it would be nice to see them in their I know the forums will dis-agree though.

There's a bit of stuff up at http://rockband.vh1.com, but one thing I find interesting is about 21 music videos available to stream of the songs. So you can see a young Ozzy and exactly how to rock.

Is it safe to assume that Microsoft footed some of the bill for this, as the end of the video only mentions the Xbox 360, has their logo and in no way mentions that the game is multi-platform, but just barely manages to avoid a lawsuit by saying "Coming for Xbox 360" instead of "Only for Xbox 360?"

Figuring that MTV owns VH1 and Harmonix, I don't think there's any lawsuit possible if they decide to advertise their product for one console over the other. I don't see how Sony would even have a case if they did say "Only for Xbox 360." It's not like Harmonix is in a contract to develop the game for the PS3 or anything. They could drop the platform tomorrow with no problem other than a thousand sad fanboys...

There are 6 million PS3's in consumers hands right now globally, and 110 million PS2's... You think it would be wise to piss off 116 million people to gain what, 12 million Xbox users???

Isn't this the same video Akaymay posted a link to a week or two ago?

In any case, similar to the whole "Coming To Xbox 360" thing, has anyone noticed all these Assassin's Creed commercials that begin with the PS logo, and end with the PS3 fade in graphic thing? Its as if its suddenly a PS3 exclusive again.

Kind of weird, not sure why its done that way.

Amazing video, anything with Dave Mustaine and Mandy Moore in it is alright by me.

Totally a great way to get Rock Band publicity, and it's pretty funny too. I'll be looking forward to where they go with this from here.

Kind of weird, not sure why its done that way.

S'all about the cash. Microsoft or Sony will throw money and concessions to game developers to keep their rival off the ad.

I'd think it would be more beneficial for developers to make it readily known that their game is multi-platform, but there must be some sort of market research that shows that strategy is worth it.

Fine by me... hopefully it'll cause less complications when I go to pick up my PS3 bundle when everyone else is waiting for their 360 version. ;)

LOL, another Canada thing! When I tried to watch the videos - "The video you are attempting to watch is only available in the USA."

6 million PS3's in the world, yes, but roughly 2 million in the U.S. vs 7 million 360's. I'd be pushing the 360 over the PS3 as well.

Anyway, PS3 owners are too busy watching Blu-ray movies to watch VH1. ;) And why would you not want to promote a next-gen console over last-gen?

"I don't remember much about that time, I was only 3 and still nursing" hahaahahahahhahhhaa

They didn't mention PS3 for a reason...they probably didn't help pay for the ad. Advertising costs money, so whoever contributes gets the shout out.

PS3 will prolly do a commercial with a lot of graphics twisting and contorting to metal music from instrument to instrument with a bunch of flowers and flourishes and some blue-ray promo some day...

but xbox users wont see it cause they'll be too busy playing rock band...lol

As cool as they could have made this mockumentary, they make these guys look like tools. If I wasn't in the know about this game and I was your general uninformed consumer, I'd think this game was pretty ******ed looking...

I hope MTV has some better promotions in mind.

That's kinda the point. It was very Spinal Tap-ish

That is AWESOME! Thanks for postin' this dude.
Ya know, you'd think we'd know about this video even before it was taped because, well, this is an exclusive RB forum, but I think we did. Remember that contest that MTV/VH1 were supposedly holding that required entrants to send in a video of them exelling in GH or other beat games whilst matching the description of each band member that they needed and, the winner would be featured in a MTV/VH1 video for RB. Well, I think now that that contest was legit and that this is the outcome. Like, remember, they wanted the bassist to be a punky girl and stuff. Ugh, well, if this is the outcome, I gonna be beatin' my a$$ for not entering that contest which I was trying to do, but couldn't. :(
