I'm excited as all hell to get my hands on RB, but I'm not going anywhere near a Rock Band demo.

The 20th is going to be my Christmas. Getting the box, bringing it home, seeing and holding the instruments for the very first time, and finally putting in the disc in the comfort of my own home... that's what I want my initial Rock Band experience to be.

I don't want my first time with Rock Band to be playing a watered down version in a noisy mall, with instruments that are likely broken on a TV that isn't calibrated, with complete strangers that probably don't share my passion about the game.

Call me picky, but hey, I've got standards.

I was going to go to a tour stop, but all of my friends backed out, so I'm not going...And even though I have a demofied Wal-Mart about 8 minutes away, I'm staying away...

I mainly just don't want to get used to drums without a pedal...Plus it will take away the magic of the 20th...

Picky? No. Asinine? Yes.

I've been all over the demo at my Wal-Mart. It's not watered down. It's simply a preview...a sample...a taste. Playing the demo has only pumped me up more and more.

I had a freshly unboxed demo and an empty Best Buy. How many songs did I play? Just one.

What did I say afterward? To quote a wise man, NFL head coach Dennis Green, "IT IS WHAT I THOUGHT IT WAS!

(And I happened to expect that it was awesome)

After the experience I had with GH80's, I didn't want to spoil an awesome experience with a half assed demo setup. So I quietly left the store.

*cough cough*

Wise man? Pssh. Sorry man, I agree with what you're tryin to say, but not with who you're using as an example. I'm a Bears fan. :D

(marking my calendar as the first time I've ever heard "wise" and "Dennis Green" used in the same sentence)

I don't agree with the example because I'm a Vikings fan...

Yep, i've purposely avoided them. Don't want a hobbled first experience.

I couldn't help myself I had to play it a bunch of times, but even though I've been to Best Buy twice and played a total of 6 or 7 songs about half on drums and half on guitar I left still wanting more and I'm happy with that. I don't see myself going back there any time soon, I'll just wait out the next week or so until I get my hands on my full version of it. I'll never stop playing it.

Avoiding. It would spoil the magic. Having me and two friends come over on L-Day/R-Day
(Launch Day/RocksDay) pop in the disc share our first play together so we all suck. Go to WBT and hope.

I'm with the majority of the ones on this thread and I'm waiting out until that glorious day (the 20th) and unveil the game at home. I might be burnt out from Assassian's Creed (14th) and Uncharted (19th) to rock out on Rock Band (plus I might have to work Launch nite too... after my reg. job, I work seasonal at GS). I'm dedicating Turkey Day to Rock Band!

I actually cancelled my Assassin's Creed pre-order so I would have enough money for the Rock Band pre-order!

I've already invited a bunch of my friends over on the Friday after Thanksgiving to rock out.

I also don't want to play the demo. I think there was another thread like this before...

i couldn't resist when i saw it set up at my local wal-mart. i just had to have a fix till the 20th. i played through "Dani California" successfully on drums and failed "Say it Ain't So" and "Are You Gonna Be My Girl" on guitar due to it's brokenness. I think it wasn't reading my downstrums. but I walked away anticipating the release date even more.

Yeah I'm staying away from it too, because the 20th is so close

And my damn stores don't have the demo but still

I couldn't agree more. Although I do wish that I never went and left launch day for my own. I just have no selfcontrol.

This is exactly what i was thinking of too. I have not gone to see a demo yet for a few reasons, one because no bass pedal on the drums and i wanna get used to that, and because of all the talks about the broken instruments, and i dont wanna go there and see all the stuff broken. I just wanna go pick it up on the 20th, and then ill bring the huge box in my room, and then it will be like a kid opening a christmas present. I cant wait to be able to open that box and and see and hold all the instruments for the first time. This game is gonna be great and i cant wait to play it.

I have to agree. Setting up all those instruments in that huge box for the first time never holding them before is priceless. I hate Guitar Hero demos at the mall because god knows who held it last, the whammy bar is always broken, and the strum is half broken. I'm not playing a demo until I get the full experience.

I def. don't want to play the demo, I don't even wanna watch somebody playing it. The first experience needs to be fresh and pure, not the feeling like it's just another game that I've already played...

ok, ok, so I know I posted earlier that I wouldn't go play the demo. Well, I just had a HUGE long break between classes (one at 9:30am and the second at 5pm) and there was a Best Buy right there, so...

I strolled in hoping there would be someone playing the demo so I could watch. Guess what? No one there! Guitar and drums just sitting there, screen flashing, calling me to pick them up. So I thought, "Ok, I'll just play a bit of the guitar to see if it works."

Well, you know what happened after that...

But, I do have to say, the guitar was very nice, and I like the fact that it doesn't click. Drums was super fun, even without a kick pedal. It's good they didn't have that on the demo, because now that I've played it, there's still some new stuff to look forward to!
