Most of those bands would be AWFUL for singing. You are forgetting this game has to be about more than metal.

uhh..all the bands you mentioned are on MTV. As, for doors and ACDC, probably not the easiest to liscence.
I'm sure you'll still have fun! There have been songs in all 4 GH's that I don't like, but I don't complain about them. This game has to appeal to a LARGE demographic, therefore not everyone will like every song..

I would take 20 Fall Out Boy songs over 1 Slipknot, Korn or Lamb of God song. The Slipknot song in Guitar Hero 3 is the least fun song out of all the 4 GH games. At least Fall Out Boy can be catchy, most of those bands you mentioned are just terrible.

dude, you've problem never even listened to LoG, the vocal's are sweet, the drums are AWESOME,and the guitar solos kick ass.
I agree with the man up top, Harmonix has reached out to every genre equally except for Metal :(
I understand the singing part is limited but, I can always hope for them to be bad ass

Slipknot's song in GH3 is fun... At least I think so... I actually think GH3 is a pretty decent game... not as good as the others, but still pretty decent.
But I don't know about this whole sellout business...

Its a game for the most part devoted to good bands with good songs that will play awesomely over all the instruments involved. It really in no way has to do with "sell out" bands, and that in their own write is up to your own opinion.
I will agree with you, I have no clue why Fall Out Boy was even considered on the other hand.

Man, I would HATE to see the mentioned bands in this game... You've no idea how happy I am that Harmonix has swayed away from the metal stuff, some of Guitar Hero's content is just plain stupid; only chosen because they wanted to find the songs with the most amount of fretboard wankery and nonsense; Rock Band actually *feels* like you're playing guitar and playing with a band. GH3 feels like you're trying to play a game and get frustrated, I feel like I'm button mashing.
We don't need songs from groups like Lamb of God or Korn, because their singing is just, well, plain crap.

Yeeeeeeeeeah, um, Korn? Seriously?
I mean, if you want to fall asleep during a song, I guess. You'd be slamming maybe three (if you're lucky) drop D bar chords through the entire thing. How is that fun?

thats a total opinion man, In my opinion, and plenty of other opinions I could name 3-4 songs on that list that I think the singing is total crap.
You have to face it man, Metal is a part of rock, always has been, always will be. Metal has been around for a while, and is still my favorite of all genres.
I can't imagine what some of your ignorant people are thinking....Think of it this way...I know for a fact if your precious punk rock was not in Rock Band you would throw a hissy fit and demand that some artists be added to the game or "I'm not going to buy it!" or some bull**** like that.
The fact is, its hard enough to request Metal songs from Harmonix without you "punk rock" fans adding your ******ed comments to everything we ask for.
So do me a favor, and STFU

Korn would be enjoyable in all aspects actually. The Vocals for Korn is insanely hard, Johnathan Davis is an excellent Vocalist.
The drums would be exceptional fun to play, the guitar as well.
Not to mention, the coolness of playing some slap-bass. The bass player for Korn rocked! If i'm not mistaken, I think he quit...or that might have been someone else (head i'm pretty sure)

Well, I agree that metal is a valid and awesome part of rock. The rest of that stuff I'll leave alone.
I'm a big fan of (some) metal and I definitely think it has its place in Rock Band. I was pumped to see Iron Maiden in there and am hoping for some Megadeth, etc in the future.

I also have to say that I'm happy that Harmonix decided to move away from all the metal that they put into GH2. I loved GH1, but was disappointed in the choice of songs (expecially on the higher tiers) for GH2.
I like most music, but you have to realize that they have to choose songs that are fun for all 4 players in the band.
Some songs I really like just wouldn't go well with the Rock Band experience.

Looks like you have no problems expressing your opinion here. Is your view higher than mine? No. Does it matter what either of us think? No. Are we going to complain that we don't get what we want in the game? No. Do I even like punk rock? No. Guess what? Jonathan Davis is a terrible vocalist. Thanks for playing. Now you can go STFU.

Thats the thing, who's to say someone won't enjoy a song? If they placed at least 2 heavy songs in the game, who's to say nobody would play it?
Actually, take a spin on it. Who's to say people are going to want to play some of the already acquired artists?
Your using your own opinion and warped view to make a judgement that is not fair to everyone.
Not EVERYONE enjoys singing in a traditional voice. give us a variety of singing difficulties, I personally think this is a biased song list.

But all I can say is thank you HMX for giving me these games, and I'm not going to ***** and moan about every little detail and song selection you guys choose. I said that Johnathan Davis is a good vocalist, you've clearly shown me that opinions mean nothing on this forum. This was reinforced shortly after reading your opinion.
I see you've actually taken a simple argument about music and turned it into a joke about someones sexuality, it's funny that you could make such a joke without actually knowing anything about the person your talking to.

I've never understood why people dog music that sells. Just because everybody likes "Sweet Home Alabama", that doesn't mean it's a bad song. Overplayed, maybe. It's ok to like popular music. Not all popular music is bad just like not all niche music or so called "true music" is good.
It seems like it's more important to be a non-conformist than a true listener. That sentiment is shameful and is directly responsible for the success of certain bands which will remain nameless.

Ok, joking aside Fall Out Boy can be catchy and I still believe they asked to be in which HMX probably thought would be easier then liscensing AC/DC.
Shouldn't we complain about Celebrity Skin instead?

Well said.
I think the track list has a bit for everyone. Plans for DLC that will satisfy most anyone. There is NEVER gonna be a music game that will 100% satisfy anyone. I like a bit of everything and I am pleased with the set list as a whole.
Sellout? Metal? Punk? Popular? Who cares. If it's a good song I could care less what the label says.

can we change the name of this thread to "another METAL thread."
First: what others have said in this thread
-- This game has to appeal to a LARGE demographic, therefore not everyone will like every song..
--Some songs I really like just wouldn't go well with the Rock Band experience
--But all I can say is thank you HMX for giving me these games, and I'm not going to ***** and moan about every little detail and song selection you guys choose. I like metal/hard rock (not screamo, nonstop double bass stuff mind you) but just keep this in mind. Yes metal is a part of rock and roll, no one can dispute that; it just has to work well in the game. I think we can definitely expect some stuff in DLC because there are some good songs that would work but just didn't make sense to be on the disc - make sense, what do mean? >>
>> Second:
DLC has given developers the option to make the game disc the best possible product that will sell the most immediately, with the promise of more content that they will then have the freedom to have "fun" with if you will, having already raked in the initial purchase and revenue. Does this suck sometimes for certain aspects? yes, in this case for metal songs. To be frank and business-minded, there are plenty of songs that could have been put on the game disc that would have helped it sell better initially than metal songs. But DLC gives them this option. If DLC didn't exist, you could probaby have expected one metal song with the promise of NO MORE. This way, throughout the lilfe of RB, you pretty much ARE promised more than one metal/hard rock song.
idk, thats one way to look at it

First off I personally think emo is the gheyest music on the planet, I hate it's guts and all the Flock Of Seagull looking homos their music inspires. There just hasn't been good rock since the late 90's early 00's.
That being said I'll play the hell outta all those songs cause it'll extend my RB experience. Hell, I'd play just about any song just cause it's another one to play!
That's what I don't get about the setlist haters, dudes, whether or not you like or hate the song it's on the disc and if you're only playing metal or whatever you're gonna have a super short time on this thing....

I can only think of one band I know for sure sold out that is in this game, Fall Out Boy. Thats about the only band I can't stand that made it into this game. Maybe it's just me, but that doesn't make any sense. Singing is a huge part of the game; a quarter of the multiplayer and a third of the single-player. Why is it so bad to mention that certain songs don't work very well for a substantial play mode?

Deftones, Slipknot, Stone sour, Pantera, Manson, Doors, Acdc, Korn, Lamb of God...
All those bands are pretty much sellouts, with the exception of ACDC, The Doors and maybe Pantera. Although I think it would be great for a few songs alittle deeper into the metal genre...such as Wintersun or some other Melodeath.

That's because of licensing issues. Jim Morrison=dead now. Rights to Doors music=in some person's hand that cares about "musical integrity."

If Im the ****in man
Then youre the ****in man as well
So you can
Point that ****in finger up your ass.
All you know about me is what Ive sold you,
Dumb ****.
I sold out long before you ever heard my name.
I sold my soul to make a record,
Dip ****,
And you bought one.
All you read and
Wear or see and

Is a product
Begging for your
Fatass dirty
Dollar
So...shut up and
Buy my new record
Send more money

First of all, there are very few terms more full of bullsh*t than "sell-out". There is nothing wrong with an artist wanting to make money off of his/her work. As an artist myself (I write), I want nothing more right now than to "sell-out" and make some damn money off of this novel I have worked my freaking ass off to produce. Maybe it's just my perspective, but WHAT is the big fracking problem with making money doing what you're good at, be it music, writing, acting, whatever?
Second of all, regardless of "MTV", many of the bands on this disc are not only amazingly good, but influential across all spectrums of music. The Rolling Stones, The Who, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Deep Purple, The Clash, Boston... these bands not only still rock, but their effect on music is felt everywhere, across every genre. Even the more modern bands are quickly becoming musical icons: Red Hot Chili Peppers, Nine Inch Nails, Foo Fighters, Metallica, and yes, even The Killers and Fall Out Boy, even though they are representative of a genre disliked by many.
I don't think anyone here has said they were an "MTV fan", and there's no reason to assume that just because we disagree with your comment. Really, I think the one thing that unites everyone on this board (aside from, well, the obvious;) ), is a passion and a love of music. Really, all you have to do is look around the "Ultimate Setlist" section and you'll see the variety of musical tastes that abound here, from Country to Metal. Each proposed band gets greeted with an onslaught of people who both agree and disagree with the choice.
Heck, I'm a fan of Disturbed and System of a Down, and if they made it into some DLC, I would be as elated as if they announced some Eagles or Hank Williams, Sr or some Run DMC. I love ALL TYPES of music, and I'm sure there are others here who feel the same way, and others who will call me a moron for even mentioning Run DMC on a Rock Band forum :D And that's great, and it's that kind of diversity that makes a game like RB, with its infinite opportunities for customization through DLC, such an amazing product. Hopefully one day you'll see that.

I think ur misunderstanding. Actually, I love alot of music up here like Gimme Shelter. The truth is that I am metal purist. Its sad that people use Metallica as a rep of metal when music today has evolved. I used to love MTV. Before they lost their soul to the reality show devil but bands today have a loyal following like A7X. It would be nice if we had some heavier dlc to at least hold us over, instead of tapping into the same bands library.

wow... umm ya I agree that ACDC should at one point be a downloadable track, they have a wide variety of great legendary songs "Thunderstruck" an incredible song. However try to look at the bigger picture. Harmonix has a hard job here... they have to appeal to these catgories, Rock, Punk, Goth, and Metal! So you are bound to have a list of songs you dislike or don't know... but also keep in mind this is were the challenge of the game comes in... I can't sing half the lyrics cause I don't know them.
