Sorry if someone already asked this, but when you are playing drums you have the 5 pads, and only 5 pads our displaying on the screen so when do you hit the other pads?:confused:

I don't really get what you are trying to ask :confused:
I only see 4 pads 3 cymbals and 1 bass pedal.

But don't worry, just remember your colors
Red= Snare drum
Yellow= Hi-hat/tom1
Blue= Ride cymbal/Tom2
Green= Crash cymbal/tom3
Orange=Bass drum
In the case of the Ion drums, it's the same only the have given you a specific colored cymbal to give more freedom (and realisim) with the other pads, but the colors remain the same.
If I am wrong, somebody jump in.

When do you hit the cymbals? just when ever you want?
Because it only displays 5 drums, do you only hit the cymbals in solo mode and only solo mode?

The pads each have a color, you hit the appropriate color pad as it comes down on the chart... The cymbals are also associated with the same colors like the pad... you do the same thing. You don't even have to use the cymbals.. if you see a green note coming down the chart, you could either hit the green pad or the green cymbal. Get it now?

No, the cymbals actually do function. They act as separate pads during overdrive fills and in training mode. So during those points you can hit them and they will each sound distinct (cymbals=cymbal hits, pads=toms and snare drum)
Yes I'm getting it. :)

that sounds cool, so during regular play when a green note is coming you can either hit the green drum or the green cymbal. and when in overdrive mode the cymbals have a more distinct sound. what about solo's? sorry I dont play the drums I play the guitar my brother in law is always on drums so I dont know that much about the drums.

The only time you can make stuff up on the drums are overdrive sections where you have to hit a green note at the end to activate it. In this case, all the parts will sound distinct from each other. I imagine that drum solos will work the same as guitar solos; you will get a blue background and a counter to see how much of the solo you hit.
