well if i can remember correctly the day before the xbox 360 launched, on mtv's trl they were giving 360's away to the people that were there that day, and i also think they did this for the ps3 not sure tho, but does anyone think that, considering they are sponsering rock band, they might do this for rock band.

If they are already sure that they'll sell out then they wouldn't need to give away free copies, since the only reason to give free copies away would be to spread word about the game.

I doubt that will happen. MTV is getting the word out already with the Rock Band Tour. Not only was it an opportunity to demo the game in public, but that's the whole point of the auditioning.

There's gonna be a Battle of the Bands type thing that's going to be on MTV with contestants from the Rock Band tour. That's their marketing right there. They don't need to give free copies. Plus, demand > supply.
