Actually, I heard about a study that for the most part, Wikipedia was just as accurate as Encyclopedia Britanica for the most part.
I think I read it on wikipedia, hold on, I'll get you the link...
Just kidding, I don't remember where I heard it from though... I think from AP... ANYWAY... here's an interesting link...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Errors_in_the_Encyclop%C3%A6dia_Britanni ca_that_have_been_corrected_in_Wikipedia
I'm sure by the URL you can infer what it is...
As for the actual song list... I know it's hearsay to speak positively of the competition, but it looks like an alright setlist so far... RB2's looks better, but still, both sides have some nice exclusives.

Two Linkin Park songs? And what odd choices for those two, not much in terms of instrument variation. I understand they were big hits, but I'm not sure they'd be a lot of fun to play.
Actually, now that I think about it, why do a handful of artists have two songs?

Two songs by The Doors? Two songs by Ozzy and Hendrix? Two songs by Linkin Park? Is variety going out of fashion or something?
One of the great things about Rock Band, and indeed GH3, is that no one artist has more than one song on the setlist, which ensures that the single-player campaign remains fairly varied and fun, with each song providing a unique experience. By putting in more than one song from one artist they're essentially throwing away that variety that I find so appealing.
Don't get me wrong, I like the four artists that I mentioned above, and this is still a great setlist (so far), but I just dislike seeing more than one song from any artist. That's what DLC is for. ;)
Also more Hendrix is possible, according to Wiki:
The Jimi Hendrix estate has sent master tapes of the songs "Foxy Lady" and "Little Wing" to RedOctane for use in the game, but their presence in the final version has not been confirmed.

that's a really good setlist, hendrix, the doors, ozzy, and some other great songs. i would consider some of those "epic". so i'm hoping since HMX said they had "epic" DLC coming that we will see some of these songs as well. if that's the case then Rock Band will kill GH in sales.
(p.s. HMX please hurry with the Hendrix, thanks!)

Actually Mr. Presumptuous, when the list was announced for Rock Band 2 I looked up and listened to every song on it that I didn't already know. The list in MY opinion scewed heavier than my taste and whereas the partial guitar hero 4 list contains two of my five most wanted artists (The Eagles and Blink 182) the RB2 list contains none. My taste is not narrow, just different than your own; If you like the RB2 list better that's fine, but I disagree so far. I am still holding out for the 20 free songs plus as stated by a previous poster there's always DLC. Furthermore, for the record, I did not say there were no good songs on RB2, I simply stated nothing measured up to some of GH4s highlights. Thanks.

for the record, i think it's fine if you prefer GH:WT's setlist and it's especially fine if you have narrow testes or even only a singular narrow teste...

we will probly see just as much divrsity in the bonus 20 as we do the disc, so yeah
and i never said there was a problem with liking the ghwt list better, but lets face facts, the list isnt out, it has only a few RUMORS and very VERY few confirmed(IGN IS NOT CONFIRMED!)
and saying "2 songs is better then a list of 84 and 20 unknowns" really shows how narrow ones taste is. you should never want a game for a single or even 2 groups in it, you should want it cuz its a good game, or because it has alot of content you want(or a good ammount).
i AM getting both games btw, for the record, rock band ill get ALL dlc for after the fact as i do now, but ghwt is gonna have to earn my dlc money by proving they are gonna make better charts, cuz lets face it, that company has the worst track record for overcharting

I actually don't think the setlist is all that good. yeah, it's got some Gems (The Eagles, Van Halen, Ozzy) but that doesn't mean that the whole list is good. I mean, the two chosen Linkin park songs are really good songs, but not good for GH or Rock Band.
Jimi Hendrix is good as well, but mostly only on guitar, not drums or vocals.
but this is where Rock Band gets Defeated, Guitar Hero goes for the popular stuff, whereas Rock Band goes for the fun stuff.
Oh, and the choice of Trapped Under Ice is pretty lame. Of ALL the metallica songs out there, that has to be in my bottom 10% as far as faves go, and 99% of people playing will be like "WTF is this? I want MAster of Puppets!" and I don't blame them. Battery is a better song, and will likely be more fun to play.

as muich as people must agree more popular songs are wanted, every time they release one/some people STILL complain.
now lets look at a few things here
in gh3, how many big names/songs were dropped in dlc....i cant think of a SINGLE one off the top of my head, well maybe the no doubt stuff i dont know what was popualr by them
now, lets assume yes, GHWT DOES get a ton of good stuff for the disc, whats to say, with their track record, they only went out of their way to get this for the disc and just kick back with profits and ignore the dlc. which i can guarentee you 100% WILL happen, their will be ALOT of broken promises with them as usual

they might have some heavy hitters like Jimi Hendrix, The Eagles, and Van Halen on the set list, but there are some groups that have more then one song....like they are having trouble filling up their 60-80 songs for the set list they promised. I find it laughable.

I'm going to have to agree. Most of this looks terrible.
-There's only 32 songs?
-A few of the songs are already in Rockband. Not too much originality there...
-Flo Rida featuring T Pain?? C'mon guys, seriously? Not to mention it's also a Remix version...
Sure, they have some good stuff like Ozzy, Hendrix and At The Drive In, but honestly, that does look absolutely terrible.

Though I dont listen to rap, a friend forced me to watch some of Travis Barker (From Blink 182) remixes to rap songs (while also showing me some awesome drum solos he does too.
Its the same rap song, expect Barker adds his own style of drumming sound to it...so same rap song, new drum line
Plan B
08-11-2008, 12:25 AM
I know, but still... a rap song??
Plus, it's Guitar Hero. Most rap is only drums and bass anyways, with a game like Guitar Hero, if they're going to do a remixed version, shouldn't they have put in a version that had some extra guitar.
I will never play GH:WT if it means I have to sing that song. I will not even utter the words to this song. I mean, have you read the lyrics? Or most rap lyrics for that matter? That crap is some of the most poorly written, unintelligent stuff I've ever heard... Trust me, I know, my roommate listens to it all day...

If all of those selections were released as DLC, I would get 7 of them.
What I really want to know is how they chart the "whoo-hoo" in The Joker. It's actually a guitar with a bit of wah and a slide.
I would get 16 (maybe 17). More than half. I actually have been excited about GH:WT. Nowhere near as excited as I am about RB 2, but this one looks good.

It's looking decent, but only decent so far. Nothing to really knock my socks off, although Hollywood Nights comes close. Seriously, listen to that song... it's really, really good.

Give HMX some credit & time.
We still don't know what DLC could be coming up before RB2's release (on the 360), and the DLC to come after that (20 free songs & weeks beyond).
I mean HMX already beat Neveroft (and in turn Activision) by releasing "B.Y.O.B.".

2 songs with Travis Barker on them...GOOD
2 songs by Linkin Prak...GOOD
2 songs by The Doors...WTF???!!!???
Oh so funny, yet oh so sad.

Is that the entire GH:WT setlist? Rock Band definitely beats them in length. We have 104 songs, if you include the 20 free DLC songs.

GH:WT is supposed to have 85 songs. So there's another 53 songs to go.

Since I've heard rumors the drums will be compatible with both, I'll probably get the GH:WT disc depending on what DLC HMX has put out by then. If HMX gets around to releasing "Bullet with Butterfly Wings" and some of the others by the time it ships, then I probably won't bother with GH, but if they don't I probably will.

That's not bad at all, RB still has a leg up but GH has some great songs in there already.
