Hey!
Anyone else going to MTV Rock Band "Battle of the Bands" event today in NYC? I'll be there with some friends of mine. I'm surprised no one has talked about it and even more surprised that MTV didn't post about it on this site. (They posted on other forums)
It's supposed to be some big event taking place at the Hard Rock Cafe in Times Square, with special guests and the like. I think they are going to be airing it during a future episode of TRL. Should be a cool time, I'll post about it later.

Ok, I said I would post details, so here they are!
It was a special taping of TRL at the Hard Rock Cafe in Times Square. We were supposed to be brought in at 4pm, but we ended up standing in the cold until almost 6! Once we finally got in, they had a stage set up with the Rock Band Instruments. Oh and there were cages with dancers in them, a nice touch!
Basically there were 3 guest judges. The first was Tom Delonge and one of the other guys from Angels and Airwaves. The second was Sebastian Bach (Skid Row baby!) That guy is crazy and hilarious! The third was Lacey and I think Jared from Flyleaf.
The two finalist bands that were competing were Carrie Me Home and Helleanor Broosevelt.
Carrie Me Home played "Are You Gonna Be My Girl" by Jet. There was no mention of difficulties. The singer was a cute chick with a really good voice. Drummer was pounding the crap out of the drums. The guitar and bass player did some cool stage tricks such as throwing their guitars to each other. Overall, a really good performance.
Helleanor Broosevelt played "Blitzkrieg Bop". Drummer was pretty good and had an awesome fake mustache. The singer was a dude with cool stage presence and a good voice. The guitar player was pulling off some cool moves and working the crowd. The bass player was dressed like Abe Lincoln, including beard and hat....I don't get it! It was a really good performance with really high energy.
The judges were supposed to judge on technical ability, stage presence, and how well they worked the crowd. Honestly, though, no mention of difficulty or end score was made. It was basically all about the stage presence. Helleanor Broosevelt won 2 out of the 3 votes and won a bunch of real Fender instruments. I think they also get to open for some kind of launch event.
Overall a very fun time! November 20th can't come fast enough!
