Presumably to steer fans away from the upcoming Rock Band (out on Nov. 20), Activision is releasing some rockin’ Guitar Hero III track packs for Xbox Live.

Red Octane Velvet Revolver and Foo Fighters track packs will go for 500 points ($6.25). The Foos include "The Pretender" from the new album Echoes Silence Patience & Grace, "All My Life" and "This Is A Call," while the Velvet Revolver one features "She Builds Quick Machines," "Slither" and "Messages."

Plus, Activision also announced that boss battle anthems and "The Devil Went Down to Georgia" will be downloadable for free later this month for play outside the game's Career mode.

Sweet, eh? Now go rock!

CANT WAIT!

Offering us free songs that are actually on the game isn't gonna sway us from the massive game known as Rock Band.

With the DLC announcement the other day, I could give 2 sh1ts about what GHIII will be putting on theirs.

But free is free.

Could you imagine the uproar if they charged you for songs you kind of already had?
Yeah PS2 owners get shafted though I'm sure they would throw them on the first expansion disk (if any) but won't really matter, RB will be out and GH will be collecting dust around here.

The question is: why weren't these songs, which are already on the disc, playable in normal modes already?

I didnt expect for them not to be free. If they charged for something that is already in the game, thats just ridiculous.
