Sony's new 40g PS3 only has 2 USB ports.
Does Rock Band plan on including a USB Hub for the PS3 versions now?
Do the 'wireless' guitars for PS3 still require a USB dongle?

I don't see why HMX would include a USB hub for the PS3 when the 20, 60 and 80 gigs have 4 ports. It will be a waste of money.

Why would HMX let people which have a 40g PS3 only play 2 players?
I would understand if the PS3 guitar was confirmed Buletooth (dongle-free)
That way only Drum and Mic would need USB.

they knew from the beginning that the 360 would need a hub. the ps3 didnt at the time because there were always 4 ports. only now has a watered-down version with 2 ports entered the market. and as someone pointed out, there are a ton of ps3s out there with 4 ports. why would the ps3 rockband bundle throw in a USB hub when we dont even need it?
that's probably why the hub is available separately (and of course to replace broken or lost hubs).

They aren't. You just have to buy your own (powered) USB 2.0 hub. Get one from any computer store, or you could splurge and get a branded Rock Band USB hub.
No reason to pack extra hardware when only 1 of 4 hardware configurations require it.

Sure, they could throw in a hub, but then the bundle would cost you $10-20 more. Remember, the hub is the condolence prize for 360 owners for not getting wireless guitars.

Solution: Buy your own HUB.
If you're looking for a quality one, might I suggest:

Today's consoles don't require USB ports for controllers. Charge the controller and rock the wireless.

The 40 can still support I believe up to 7 bluetooth connections, it's just that it only has two usb ports.
