After getting the dreaded snapped bass pedal in only two weeks, I've decided to get a reinforcement of some sort for the replacement (which just came in today). I looked up the Pedal Metal, which seems like the best one. Only thing is I'm not very comfortable drilling holes in the pedal to apply this. I will if I need to, though. Any suggestions on a good reinforcement?

Drill it/screw it. If it breaks, send it back. They'll take it.

I'll put this as simply as I can.
Pedal Metal works.
I first ordered just the plate for the pedal, and it made a drastic difference.
Then, as I got better at playing the base began with a crack.
I hit up the guy via email and he sent me just the base plate. Fret not about drilling holes - the instructions say not to - just use a screwdriver.
All you really have to do is make sure you get it flush with the original pedal by screwing down the top & bottom first.
With the reinforcement, the pedal no longer feels like it has 'give' to it.
You won't have any worry about breakage - been using it now for 3 months solid and it's still good to go.

Okay, I think I'll stick with that. Sounds easy to apply. What's the usual price range range for it? I keep seeing $30 or so, which sounds a bit expensive for this.

If you can spare about $45, the bass pedal for the ION set is already being sold on Ebay. It's all medal so no fear of snapping. A buddy of mine just bought one and it's works great. The only thing you have to do to use it is remove the front bar from the bass of your kit.
I wish I could give you a link, but Ebay is blocked at work. :(

Roadie Pedal (http://cgi.ebay.com/ROADIE-BASS-DRUM-PEDAL-REPLACEMENT-FOR-ROCK-BAND-Xbox_W0QQitemZ280255437175QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item 280255437175&_trkparms=72%3A931|39%3A1|66%3A3|65%3A12|240%3A131 8&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&timeout=1218722876584) on eBay.com - ($46.99 total I think)
I'm actually waiting on this to be delivered from FedEx today.
So, I can't say one way or another if this thing is viable. I did get it because I ordered the ION set, and want to have the luxury of double bass. It does state that its all metal, and by the video embed on the ebay page, it looks even more durable than one reinforced with Pedal Metal.

This is what I have. So far, it's taken every bit of abuse (I mean hard playing) and not given in.

If ya don't have the extra cash, this is the best option you can go with.
I bought this piece first, and then added the hinge for the base. I paid more for it all because of shipping costs, but the end result is the same.
After a little time with the roadie, I'll post back up here and try to contrast them.

Before I forget to mention it, I have the Wii version, which I think uses a different version of the drum set (I'm pretty sure it's v2 for all consoles. The one with the part for the sticks on the back so you don't need to put them in the space between the pads). That should still work with it, right? From what I've seen, only the actual set changed, not the pedal. And for when I do order it, how would I go about installing it? (Getting the Pedal Metal with hinge).

Not sure about the Wii version of the pedal, though I doubt they changed the manufacturing code - from a bottom line perspective. Though, like I said - I don't have a Wii, haven't played on one so it's just speculation.
If in doubt, send the dude an email - ( petalmetals@gmail.com (petalmetals@gmail.co) ) and ask if its been tested or used for Wii.
As for instructions, the guy mails them with the pedal.
It's rather cut and dry - he states NOT to use a drill. Rightfully so, since it's plastic. The screws that come with, aren't the normal ones you'd be thinking of. Far easier to screw into plastic. 7 screws all together. I started with the lone at the top, give a 'pivot point' and made sure everything was flush. I then did the two at the very bottom - so it was then secured in its place and then could finish out the remaing four. The instructions come with color pics, so you'll be able to figure it out.
You will need to knock out the pin where the pedal connects at the base (this thing is much easier to install if you do this, rather than trying to screw a plate still attached) - if you have a rubber mallet, I'd use that, along with a a flat-head or a hex screwdriver I've found works better.

I haven't personally done this on the Wii, but I've been told that the drum pedal is the same for every console. The jack is just the standard mono 1/8" or whatever. If someone with the Wii version could confirm, that would be awesome. Also the pedal metal guys should tell you how to install it. Most of them just use screws that gouge their way into the plastic (easiest with a power drill but possible with a screwdriver). Again though, check the listing. It should say.
