But they also state that the PS3 gear and game will ship 11/01/07 and the 360 gear and game will ship 11/20/07

The word "Official" in gaming blogs often times translates to "I saw it stated somewhere, then closed my eyes and covered my ears shouting LALALALALALALALA while posting"

That being said, it is absolutely official that Gamestop has thrown darts at a board full of prices and listed the results on their web site. They're probably in the general ballpark, but there has been no public announcement from Harmonix, MTV, EA, Fender, or the magical pixies that make instrument shrinking dust at this point.

This is stated at least once or twice everyday. These "official" prices are estimates made my Gamestop, Harmonix/MTV/EA has announced NOTHING on the prices, and once they have, the FAQ will reflect that change.

GameStop always prematurely puts prices and dates out for games. Take Halo 3 for example. When they first announced Halo 3, GameStop slated the release date in February 07. We all know now it is is September. And they also said the Legendary Edition was $100. It is now $130. Never trust GameStop, especially this early.

Its the MS ideology, always charge more than whats reasonable. Im sure the rockband guitar, if it uses the MS tech is gonna cost more just because MS demands royalties.

oh man the 360 controller costs 5 bucks more (which it wont), so ill go out and pay 600$ for a ps3 instead of 400 for a 360. oops I forgot cables so I can see it in HD, unless I do that it looks like ps2. let me shell out another 50 then for the ps3, plus tax.

man, those controller prices dont look bad after all. (this is of course unless you already have a ps3), and even then, there most likely wont be a difference in the controller cost. Microsoft shouldn't be that stupid - that would drive customers away.

Yeah I'm a huge supporter of N4G and use it all the time but it seems WAY behind on Rock Band news. I'm not an official contributer but I've posted news tips (eg, about the leaked GI scans) and they ignored it until some other guy posted about it later, with worse scans.

I can't say why this would be the case, but I can offer you two guesses, im probably way off but I'll go for it anyway.

1. Price. Could be to do with a license fee that HMX has to pay to MS for technology (wireless) or some other 'agreement'

2. Launch Title clash - Might be that MS already has a 'big' title due for release on the 1st and don't want another big title so close, it's a wild guess but the best I have.

Any thoughts?

What bothers me is that Gamestop is spouting off these prices as if they are official. I was in a Gamestop in Nashville this weekend and the clerk there was going on about the controllers and bundles and referring to the GI issue and a list of upcoming releases that looked like it came from "Corporate." Same old stuff. Guitar and drums $80 each, mic $40. The bundle with all three controllers and game, $200. I made sure to reply that these are still estimates at this point. I know harmonix hasn't officially announced pricing, but is it possible Gamestop has an idea what these things wil cost for whatever reason. After all, a lot of gameplay information has been leaked that turned out to be true. I will still wait for the official prices, but those sound like realistic estimates to me (though not what I would consider great prices).

I love how the interweb gets all 'official'. These blogs/gaming sites are competing for hits. Of course they are going to try to list as much 'exclusive' news as possible. But regardless of the game/console/whatever, I wouldn't believe anything without official confirmation from the developer/marketing team.

We are fortunate to be in an age where the communication in most cases with the developers is open. I like this forum because it's actually Harmonix that comes on here and posts what information they can at any given date.

I preordered 360 GH2 before it was announced from EBGames. Of course this is when they were telling all their customers that there was going to be a Wireless guitar. They swore up and down that they had a sku in their system for wireless. Anyway I did my own research and knew they were given incorrent information from head office, I would guess. I politely asked them to change my order to the wired package. There were 3 people on launch day that did not get GH because the wireless package was backordered. They were pissed, and rightfully so.

I will probably put in a pre-order for Rock Band based on information they have in their systems, but will change it based on what real information is released on here. Lesson is do not believe everything you read, unless you get it from the horses mouth.

Yup. I just went thru the same thing here in CA. Only in my case, the clerk swore up and down that the bundle comes with 2 guitar controllers, mic, drums for 200. :rolleyes:
But you have to remember that gamestop employees have a pre-order quota to make or they get fired?, and they will tell you anything to make that quota.

I pre-ordered mine regardless.
At least as official info comes in, I can change my order accordingly.
