I'm upgrading my amp. I need suggestions. I'd like it to be around 300W or so. Other than that, I'm open to anything. Please, advise away. Oh yeah, it needs to be an amp that can handle a low B. My new BTB575 is a BEAST.

What's your budget limit?

I really can't help you here. I have at home a tiny little practice amp (not sure what as it came with the bass never really looked) that I use to play my bass with and when I play it at school I have to use one of there amps healtha and safety apparently.

Just keep it under $1000. Oh yeah, it needs to be a combo.

Hey, sorry to hijack, but I also have a simple question. Is bass easier to learn than guitar? I'm thinkin about picking one up from craigslist.

It's easier to learn, but IMO much harder to play. Bass is a cruel, cruel instrument. If you don't know your way around the fretboard exactly, you're screwed because fret buzz will crop up at the slightest mistake. You need very strong hands.

Yer so true. Don't play bass too much as soon as your learning it. If you've ever seen that episode of friends where they're playing ms pacman, your hand will end up like Chandlers.

I played my bass a lot the first day I got it, I had seious hand cramps that night lol.

Here is one that's just a little over your budget but I'm sure you can lower the list price under 1K bucks, if you smooth out the sales person.

I've always been a fan of David Eden, GK and Trace Elliot amps, they have an amazing sound. I used to have a Trace Elliot Combo 250W lasted me a good long while. Then I got a 500W David Eden Head with a David Eden 4x10 speaker. OHHH!! the sound!! is just so crisp and clear. But it also depends greatly on the bass itself.

Try out a few combos, but be sure to try them out with your own bass, that's how I do it.

You have a 1000 dollar limit?! What?!

Anyways you've heard me tell you this before, but go for an Ampeg amp or a Mark's Amp or whatever they're called. They're damn sweet and I know that Ampegs won't crap out on you.

And play with your fingers. You'll look more bad ass....well not as bad ass as me, but soon. haha

I wouldn't play with a pick. Though I respect those who do. Also, what's wrong with a $1000 limit?
