I dont know if I should be posting this here but I have an idea for a song.

I demand...well I'll ask nicely that you try to get Valve to give you the liesence to use "still alive" I beleive it from the credits or portals. I mean it has bass guitar drums and vocals.

The drum and bass parts would be on the weak side (they only really come in at the choruses), but the guitar would be good and the vocals would make up for the rest :)

It would be nice to see someone make a petition and a **** load of people signed it. Hey it worked for the PSP and now Capcom is working on a resident evil title. I'm sure a petition with 10k+ people on it would make HMX talk to Valve about using their song :p

So i was about to post something like "Linx or it never happened," when I got off my lazy butt and searched for it myself.

Much to my surprise I found a lovely female computer voice yammering on about nonsense.

This, I'm sorry, made me laugh hysterically to the point of actually thinking, "Maybe this wouldn't be a bad gag song."

It works much better than the awful Timmy song they chose. The singing part would be so fun, especially if it modulated the singers voice to sound all "computery". It's a short, simple fun song and I'd love to play it.

Well, in the teamxbox interview, HMX did say they wanted to do a "nerd rock" pack. We might get Still Alive, Optimus Rhyme, Code Monkey, and other stuff like that as DLC -- it makes sense because it's a niche online audience, perfect for DLC.

Look what I found!

Darn, you beat me to it. That's "Frets on Fire" or "Frets of Fire", basically a GH clone for the PC. It's a cute project of some person or small group. It was free when I tried it and is presumably still so.

The funny part is they show you how to hold your keyboard as a guitar. I think the F1-F5 keys were the frets and the space was the strum, configurable naturally.

Now that there's USB flavors of guitars out I'm sure someone managed to get it working as a PC controller.

I agree with Dark Assassin here. I really loved Portal and the song is hilarious (especially if you get the Black Mesa joke), but its overall a really weak song for Rock Band. I'm actually surprised so many posts agreed up to him.

Not to mention I don't think that would happen regardless.
