View Full Version : Will Canadian PS3 DLC Be Overcharged?

I only just noticed after checking out the Canadian version of the PSN that PS3 users who purchase the GHIII songs packs are being charged C$7.25 for the songs. Are American PS3 users being charged US$6.25 for the same packs? If so, that would mean that Canadians are actually paying approximately US$7.72 after current conversion rates.
Is this something that Canadian PS3 owners can expect for DLC on Rock Band, or do you think that Harmonix/MTV/EA will keep the prices for the songs equivalent to the American prices?
I'm hoping for the latter, but it wouldn't surprise me if it ends up being the former...

Yeah I think it is $6.25 here in the US. I have a 360 (buying a PS3 now...) and the packs end up being 500 MS points.

Thanks for clearing that up. I just checked a Kotaku post (http://kotaku.com/gaming/playstation-3/playstation-store-update-uncharted--classy-pink-320549.php) that confirms that American PSN owners are also playing $6.25 for the GHIII songs. So yeah, it does look like Canadians are getting hosed on this since the higher price in now way can be blamed on currency conversion. If that were the case, we should be paying a LOWER price, not a higher one in local currency.
I sure hope EA, MTV and Harmonix don't do the same thing. Not that I won't pay it, but I'll feel jilted doing it...

Agreed, the way DLC has been priced for us Canadians is total bull****.
With the Canadian dollar higher than the US dollar, it's not fair that we get milked. Sony needs to get out of the past and start matching price with the US prices, or else I'm not downloading anything from them that requires a purchase.
I've already expressed my discontent on the issue with Sony, so I'm sure if enough people complain it will change -- Big companies hate bad publicity, so go forth and complain!

I felt kind of ripped-off after buying Super Stardust HD and Everyday Shooter, a found out later that they were each a couple dollars more expensive than the US versions.
