I was just browsing random videos and I found Welcome to the Jungle, and I was instantly hooked.

So glad the wait is almost over.

I told my friends how they should make a Guitar Hero, but with drums. They said it wouldn't work, I said yes.

A month later, BAM!!! Rock Band is unvieled, I got $10 and nearly wet my pants.

Oh um...I think one of my magazines.

I was never interested in a band game and I was just waiting for a PS3 Guitar Hero so I can finally get a PS3 and move on to the new generation of consoles. So, my boss comes to the office one day and tells us how much fun he was having with GHII on his XBOX and wonder how cool it would be if there was a game where you could have a drummer a singer and the option to dance at the same time. And one of my coworker tells us that there is actually a similar game like that coming out. And we were like "Nah....no way..." Next thing you know we saw the WTTJ video on youtube and at that point I knew I wasn't gong to get GHIII, but RockBand.

Al

PS I WANT MY GUNS AND ROSES DLC.!!!!!!!!

edit:

I found out when they first announced it through a news source.. it was like msnbc online or something like that.. my mom sent me an email with the link... I read it, my eyes widened.. and they've been wide ever since. The game looks amazing through and through. I believe it was around March?

I told my friends they should make a game that gives you the full band experience then about five months later I saw the Welcome to the Jungle video on youtube. I was like awesome I knew they would make this game one day.

I heard of Rockband way before the Welcome to the jungle video was online.

Actually, I'm one of those guys who checks all kind of videogame news sites on the net every day, so I'm sure I heard of Rockband the first time it was announced. And I was immediately in love with the idea of this game.

I was looking in a copy of EGM Magazine. They had an article in there that said "Guitar Hero 3 Vs. Rock Band." I read it and was like WHAT!?!?

One of the magazines I think. I first remember reading about how they were trademarking the various "_____ Hero" names. Then sometime later I first read about Rock Band and I thought "WHEN?!" And now the answer to that question is "in ten days".

Ten days that will feel like ten weeks... :(

I remember when I first got Guitar Hero I and me and my roommate were playing that nonstop, and I would always say, "They should have a game where you sing and play drums, too. And they should call it Band Hero." Then earlier this year I was browsing USA Today at work and read an article about it. I raced home after work, brought up the article, showed it to my roommate, and said, "I FREAKING TOLD YOU!" and gloated for a week.

I remember they announced in on April first so a lot of people, including me, thought it was just a cruel April Fools joke. Thank god it wasn't and it's coming out in 10 days.

I was actually gonna get the "Drum Mania" game for the PS2, since I thought it would be cool to do drumming.

Went to my friend's house over Independence Day, and he mentioned Rock Band. I've been waiting for it ever since...

I remember that too. They trademarked alot of different things like "Drum Hero" "Guitar Villain" "Drum Villain" and things based around that.

I remember I heard about it somewhere in the internet... Oh yeah. I was checking for the Hyperspeed cheat for GH2 on IGN, then something caught my eye... Rock Band game announced! I clicked it, and got hooked immediately. April 2 was a great day for HMX... the release of GH2 for 360 and the announcement of RB! Just great... I love it! I can't wait 9 more freakin days!

[First post! Hooray!]

Long time lurker here....

I've been a big fan of GH and of Karaoke Revolution before it. KR Party had already combined DDR gameplay in with it, and so I thought to myself "Zechman, it'd be awesome if they combined GH and KR together like that!"*

A few months later, I read on AVS forum (I'm a semi-regular there) about Harmonix registering a bunch of names like "Guitar Villain" and I was intrigued by the presence of "Drum Hero" and "Band Hero".

I've been drooling ever since over the prospect, now a reality, that they are indeed making the game I envisioned. And I've been visiting this board regularly since it was the "Pole" picture.

As a bonus, I'm pretty sure I'll have another game that I can play with Mrs. Zechman--she really likes Karaoke Revolution but, well, tolerates Guitar Hero.

Nine days!!!

--Dwayne

* P.S. I do normally try not to refer to myself in the third person while talking to myself. It might give myself the idea that I'm a little crazy.... :D

Man i forgot where i heard about rock band i think some rumor about a full band experience.

I remember when I first heard about Rock Band, I misunderstood what it was. I thought HMX was still in charge of the GH series, but were making this on the side. The way the article made it sound, I thought it was just a program that allowed people in bands to practice online together. And, while it seemed cool, I thought it wouldn't be something I would need/use.

(he says in a new post, shamelessly padding his post count)

I was at the Rock Band Tour when it went to University of Maryland.

I was there BEFORE that guy on the video who was talking about how early he and his girlfriend got there. (My friends and I didn't "drive past" the place, apparently.) I talked with him for quite a while (we had a lot of free time before hand), he's a nice guy.

What they didn't mention was that there had been a pretty bad storm the night before, and the fabric awning on the side of the trailer got torn off and ripped up pretty badly. We talked to the event staff (big football game going on later that evening) who told us that the HMX people were coming, but they wouldn't be opening up for another couple of hours because they needed to figure out what to do about the damage. So my friends and I wandered off to student union building to find a place to sit down.

Since we weren't there when the tour crew got there, it looked like he was the first one on-site. I reality, it was me and my friends.

Shout out to the drummer from Blueleader's group, who also played bass with us. That was a great day, everyone we met were great people. Thanks, Harmonix!

We now return you to your regularly scheduled thread, already in progress.... ;)
