Question about the mic

For the 360, will the mic count as one of the 4 connected controllers? If so, will it have a directional pad and buttons to navigate the menus or does it not count as one... and wouldn't that mean you could use any mic including the wireless headset?

No; the mic plugs in separately, and you use a regular controller to do menu navigation. You can use any USB mic or other mic that works with your console.
