For the 21 and up

We will be giving out prizes to the top bands and performers (first prize is a $40 bar tab!) with extra points (and shots) awarded for Attitude, Costumes & Groupies. awesome, Rock Band in SF! has it been a hit so far? Looks like all the other places in SF have Guitar Hero, but RB definitely seems better suited for a bar scene.

We just got started and I am still trying to get the word out there, i.e. we only get a few RB heads and some stragglers from the street. But, this Saturday the 30th will be our last happy hour only event.
Starting in September we're moving to Sundays and we will be rocking ALL NIGHT LONG, with a rehersal period from 7-10 & then the competition from 10-Midnight.
Come by with some friends on Saturday, play some RB, drink some beer. It'll be fun!

I took a look at your site and recommend it to my visitors. I agree with you on the importance of becoming valuable in many different areas. I believe that it sustains any entrepreneur during challenges that inevitably occur.

SaikouMenji: We haven't gotten all of the DLC yet, but if you have some favorite songs I can make sure we get them when you come down. And you can totally bring your own instrument if you like. We want to see you ROCK!

You didn't say she was part of your band. I totally understand. Bummer tho. You just gotta tell her to grow up faster then :D

is the machine 360 or ps3?
BonDuRant

We are running with a ps3 at the bar. Which is a bummer for RB2. I guess we will just have to wait till they release it.
MisterSchulz
09-06-2008, 03:38 PM
its ok, it'll give us 360ers time to practice up with rb2 before it hits the stage at the bar

Hey guys! Just came from this and had a great time. If you're in the SF bay area and want to rock out with other RB fans and have some booze while you're at it please come down and support these guys. It's a great time! See you next week!

What are the rules for difficulty/song selection/etc?
BonDuRant
09-09-2008, 11:08 PM
We just got started and I am still trying to figure out all the rules. i posted a thread here (http://www.rockband.com/forums/showthread.php?t=78137) asking for some feedback about the best way to judge the competition. Currently we are just going by top score from any song at any difficulty level, but you have to have a full band. I am thinking about getting a dB meter to award prizes for the crowd favorite too.

omg! RB in SF! I've been waiting for this since the game came out. What's your drum setup? decent throne? silencers? QM/EL set?
also, if I don't show up with a band, do we get randomly assigned band mates or is it schoolyard pick?

Or we could find out who in the area might be interested and potentially group together here first....

the set up for drums is nothing fancy. regular drums infront of a bench. But the game is hooked into the DJs sound system so the music definitely drowns out any banging noises.

2 guitars I assume? Both Strats?
SaikouMenji
09-11-2008, 06:50 PM
yeah, 2 strats. brand new so they feel great. But if you got the ps3 version of rb you can bring your own instrument if you feel more comfortable with it

Hi!
I'm from Spain. I arrove in SF 2 weeks ago and i will be here 1 week more. I love Rock Band, I play all the instruments in expert (drums are my favorite). I would like to go this sunday and play, but I have no Band, it's only me. What can I do?
SaikouMenji
09-19-2008, 09:59 PM
You might be able to find some extra people to play with at the bar. Or search the forums here for other SF people who want to play with you (and are 21 +) :D

There is room for all levels of skill. Last sunday we had a group of brits (I think) who had never played before get up and rock. they failed out a few times before getting the hang of it but when they finally finished a song the whole bar was cheering for them. The expert level players usually get the tab though, because they rack up so many points. But, I am thinking of changing the scoring from a top score method to the one suggested by axhchildren here (http://www.rockband.com/forums/showthread.php?t=78137). It seems like a fair system. Hope to see you out there next week!

Awesome. I was waiting for the presence of the new Strat before participating, since I couldn't exactly bring my 360 sunburst with me ;-) The new controller has improved my game dramatically.
Any progress on a scoring system? Which to you weigh more: chart difficulty, selected difficulty, number of players, etc? We're trying to figure out which songs to rehearse, and some of us still haven't made the transition from Hard to Expert :\

Hey, you know the stage kit comes out next week. What do you think are the chances of getting that? I think it would look awesome!

The new 'rock off' between the top to bands was a good idea. However, we need more band to come.
Still I'm happy with the night. Rock on.

Can you bring your own guitar or do you have to play the ones you have?
"edit" nevermind I realized you have the ps3 version and I play the xbox360 "edit"

We are starting a new scoring system this week. Using the top scores from Score Hero we are weighting all of the songs so that theoretically all of them have the same possible top score. This will hopefully help even out the score differences between songs. WE are also brainstorming ideas to add some variety to the night, such as theme challenges, guitar/drum offs, and such, which we will be implementing soon. As always this night is a work in progress and any suggestions are welcome. And keep on ROCKIN!

If it was not so late, our band would be all over it.
We are all in our late 40's and 10pm is our bedtime.
Good thing for the competetion, because the old men would crush them.

12-08-2008, 09:08 PM
OOhhh Really? You're just gonna throw down the gauntlet like that and then just skip off to beddy bye? The Sh!tmothers will take on all challengers. We welcome it!

I have been thinking about changing the time of the event and Highlandlassie you have given me reason to do so. We now begin the competition at 9 and go till 11. Then rock out afterwards. Surly your crew can stand staying out 1 hour later?
NarakuKat
12-11-2008, 04:45 AM
OK. ****Mothers can bring it on. I say let's do it. I need the warm up. 9 to 11 it is.

Still rocking? I think I could finally make it tomorrow night -- but I'd hate to go all that way if there's no rocking.
So anyone wanna play with a fat, old man who can wail on expert guitar?
