View Full Version : End Wankeries?

hey all. i've been lurking these forums for a while now and I thought I'd register now that I actually have something worth saying..

anyways, my question is in regard of the end wankeries we've all seen and probably love. I'm not sure if these come up every time or only if you're performance is good enough, and even then only with predetermined songs. That's not the point though; the thing I was wondering was if anyone knows if these are completely freestyle. I personally thought they were (within the set limits of predetermined guitar notes, obviously), but after seeing this vid

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z-L19WgHZ34

it seems their end wankery sounds exactly the same as the one at the end of Paranoid found on the main Rock Band site.
does this mean it just streams a prerecorded ending and the players are encouraged to strum about randomly to get as many 'hits' as possible? I hope not, because they might as well just left it with notecharts like they did in some GH songs...

thoughts?

Flailing like a madman on those ending bonus sections will not net you any more points than if you put some actual thought behind it. You can make it sound different but the points will be the same (providing you hit the final note of the section, which is predetermined)

Its free form, with its limits, you can play anything you want. Just like the fill sections that the drums have.

Well, from my experience playing the demo, each fret button makes a different noise during those sections.

unfortunately, i actually think he is right in terms of guitar. They seem prerecorded and u just play fast to gain points. I wish they had figured out how to make guitar "fills" work like drum fills, but they didn't (i don't think).

indeed. nt too sure about drums, but the licks played at both those vids are freakishly similar. im assuming the game is being played by the computer in that rockband.com video (as there are no fills and no overdrive is being used), and the guys in the demo vid are strumming randomly.. a bit too coincidental I'd say.
maybe its just a demo build.. here's hoping

Yeah, during the time I played at Best Buy, my button presses didn't seem to have any effect on the sound of the guitar during the end bonus.

Very disappointing.

Does the singer get to join in on the wankery or do I have to go beat on the drums too?

The singer gets a distortion effect on his voice and can shout whatever he wants to.

I just got back from a walmart demo and during the wankery sections I went to the solo buttons and Im pretty sure the sound changed to what I was hitting...who knows,I hope its like the drums though.

On guitar and bass it seemed that each fret had a different note, but the note also changed throughout the wankery. So it's a mix between free-form and pre-coded.
