Just wondering what the resolution is on the PS3 version??? Not that this game is really about graphics or resolution (though it does look AMAZING visually), i'm just curious about HOW good it'll look on my big screen..

probably 720p/1080i like most of the games.

480i for regular tv. Or 800x600.

Was that a joke?

It will most likely natively be developed in 720p like almost all games. The 360 version as well, though the 360 can upconvert it to 1080p.

PS3 can upconvert as well. I'm kind of curious what the native resolution is, though.

PS3 can't upconvert PS3 games though currently, just PS1 and PS2 games. :( I own a PS3 as well. The interface has gotten much better though and I'd enjoy the PS3 version equally if DLC is released day and date with 360's, fortunately it has for GH3.

I don't know what your running your PS3 through, but mine on a 50" 1080 through HDMI looks amazing!

This is a bit of a misnomer. Upconversions to 1080p aren't really 1080p, but merely illusions. You can't take 720 lines and magically create 360 more. And 1080i isn't 1080 lines.

I owned both versions of GH3, 360 and PS3. The highest the PS3 can run the game is 720p. The 360, on the other hand can run the game at 1080p. Check the back of the game cases. This is of course just Guitar Hero 3. But I'm willing to bet that Rock Band will run at 1080p on the 360.

This isn't needed. If you want to troll about a system go somewhere else. Or get a life, I'll leave the choice up to you.

I remember seeing a review page where it had 1080i I don't know if it was a 360 or PS3 page though.

Microsoft should hire you as a spokesman. You're so articulate, and really put the competition in its place.

Last I checked, DVD's can't output 1080p. The difference between the 360 and PS3 versions is that the 360 can upconvert to 1080p, whereas the PS3 can't, but you're not really getting true 1080p. It's certainly better than nothing though.

For god sake it seems no one but me and a few others know how the PS3's resolutions work:

YES, it does support 1080p for the dashboard, Blu-rays, upconverted DVDS/PS1/PS2 games but NOT all and most PS3 games. Almost all games are natively developed into 720p, so even though you have a 1080p setup for your home theater and all your settings on the PS3 output to 1080p... you're still going to get a 720p signal when you start the game up because that's the resolution the game was developed in and the PS3 currently does not upconvert PS3 games into 1080p.

The Xbox 360 basically has all its games developed natively in 720p (Halo 3 in 640p, odd huh?) BUT can be upconverted into 1080p. Sure its not native 1080p, but 720p upconverted into 1080p still looks astonishing, so therefore 360 has 1080p no matter what whether native or not and PS3 only has 1080p if the game supports it. Check the back of your game boxes for PS3 and see if it supports 1080p, about 20 games do. Now all 360 games say it supports 1080p on the back even though its not the native resolution. It says that on the back of 360 boxes because the system can support upconverting the game into that resolution. Unlike 360 games, PS3 game boxes on the back state the native resolution whereas 360 now all say 1080p because of the upconverting capability. Most consumers don't realize this marketing trick, so I prefer Sony's honest original resolution it was made in on the back of their boxes.

On the PS3 standard DVDs can be upconverted via HDMI to 1080p. On the 360 standard DVDs can only be upconverted if you have the HD DVD add-on with HDMI or VGA cable setup to 1080p. Also, games are different than movies even though they share the same disc format (DVD) and can be natively developed all the way up to 1080p. Its just because of storage capacity since the dawn of DVD all movies were formatted into 480p. You could actually get a few minutes of full HD 1080p movie quality from Blu-ray or HD DVD natively to fit on the disc, but just a few minutes. Games are different because they aren't compressed into frames of a movie, just data for the system to handle.

Just know that even if you have one of the really really old wood paneled TVs that are about 15" and looks like it should be displaying black and white and no color. You'll be able to fit everything on the screen and see it.

Yeah I know that. Any 360 or PS3 game can downgrade the quality of a game to fullscreen and standard definition. A game like this though you definately want a 16 x 9 widescreen TV for all the notes displayed simultaneously for ease.
