They have announced it is compatible with RB1 instruments. It is believed this would mean it is compatible with RB2 instruments, but I don't believe it has been tested.

Ummm, The arcticle actually states that they are working on compatibility for GH games currently on the market. GH4 is not a current game, it is an upcoming game.

Yeah, some Neversoft/Activision guy confirmed that Rockband 1 instruments work with GHWT. Even the drums work, GHWT drum charts actually change to 4 pads if you plug in the RB drums. Pretty awesome.

I just hope the ION drums work with GHWT, that's all I want.

This guy is right, it was either Neversoft, Activision or even a RedOctane guy that said "GH:WT will recognize RB drums and minus out one of the pads". Not exactly how it will work, but they did confirm that.

And I highly doubt the ION drums will work with GH:WT.

You guys are all right, just for different platforms. At E3, Activision confirmed that GH:WT would work with the RB1 instruments on the 360 but couldn't confirm compatibility with the RB2 instruments (they haven't come out yet).

Sony announced on their blog yesterday that the RB2 instruments on the PS3 would work with GH:WT and vice versa. They said they were working on getting compatibility with games that had already been released. Whether that extends to the alread released instruments remains to be seen, but I'd assume that it does.

After bickering between Activision and Harmonix meant you couldn't use Guitar Hero's guitars with Rock Band on the PS3 ('cause Activision wanted moolah for Harmonix to release the patch), Sony has grabbed them both firmly by the nuts and said "everybody's instruments must work with everybody's games."

Absolutely loved this line of that article...

If you're asking if the instruments *will* be compatible, sadly, no. They're too different.

If you're asking if the instruments *should* be compatible, I think so. I wish Nintendo would do what Sony just did and insist upon it.

I actually think they will work just like the normal Rockband drums. They will be recognized by the game as Rockband drums and the game will minus out one pad - which is stupid, since we actually have 6-7 pads, but the ION drums don't have an orange pad, it has 2x yellow, green and blue, and 1x red.
