View Full Version : USB Hub to be sold separately?

Though I clearly recall Alex Rigopulos confirming (http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/08/harmonix-ceo-confirms-rock-bands-xbox-360-bundle-guitar-is-wire/) the Xbox 360 Bundle will include a USB HUB packaged in it; I was skimming around and noticed a complete lack of any sort of mention about said USB HUB actually being included in The Bundle.
The Rock Band Store (http://www.rockbandstore.com/detail.php?p=45250&SESSID=b81c55c7dc3ed58b4594c719eab52a35) lacks any information about there being a USB HUB included, same with: GameStop (http://www.gamestop.com/product.asp?product%5Fid=200345), Best Buy (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8604343&st=Rock+Band&lp=3&type=product&cp=1&id=1192232281392), Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/MTV-Games-Rock-Special-Edition/dp/B000TT4GBG/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1194791015&sr=8-1)...
However, I did notice that GameStop is selling a separate "Rock Band licensed" USB HUB. Right here (http://www.gamestop.com/product.asp?product%5Fid=802774).
I just hope I am reading to much into this, but that would bite if I had to go out and buy a USB HUB on top of The Bundle (regardless of how cheap you can get a USB Hub, it would suck to read about the CEO say it will be included when in the end it may not be).
I would like to get some sort of confirmation one way or the other about this. Or, at least get anyone's thoughts or evidence supporting the inclusion of a USB HUB for the 360 Bundle.

a couple days ago when all the big sites got rock band in for review, none of them mentioned NOT having a USB hub and what they got was the retail version of the game, I can't imagine that it doesnt come with a USB hub, I am pretty sure we would hear all kinds of *****ing about it out of the big sites if their versions didnt come with USB Hubs

Wired has a picture of the hub that comes in the box. It is included for the 360.
Also, the included hub is DIFFERENT from the hub sold separately. The included hub is very small and thin, the one sold separately is more like a cube.

It's definitely in the 360 bundle, not the PS3's though. It almost should be though with the release of the 40gb only having 2 USB ports even though the majority of PS3 owners are otherwise.

They are providing the option for those who need it.
360 Owners need it, so they throw it in the bundle, however for PS3 owners, some do, some don't, so it's an optional extra. Less wastage/uneccesary expense for EA/Harmonix.

The recent review I read in Game Pro said the kit came with the USB hub included. I know that can change since the article was probably written 2 or 3 weeks ago, but I don't think they would take out the hub now and piss off people that have already pre-ordered the game thinking they would have the hub.

They better include the USB hub so I won't have to go to GameStop after I buy it.

I remember there was an interview with a Harmonix person, and they said it would include a USB hub. Although I can't seem to find that interview right now. If anyone would mind posting the link? I'll keep looking for it...

I think you guys are missing the obvious answer:
Since they plan on selling the game later with "just a guitar" or "just a drum set", anyone who buys those peripherals piecemeal will also need to be able to buy that hub in order to connect all the instruments at one time.
It doesn't make sense to include it with the "just a guitar" package, so sell it separately.
OTOH, it does make sense to include it in the big bundle, so they will (as they've said a number of times).

These guys are correct: the 360 bundle is coming with a hub.

Alrighty, thank you John, and to the rest of you guys for responding. Makes me want Rock Band to come out that much sooner knowing I can just (more or less) "plug and play" all day/night with my friends and family. :)
I suppose it makes sense to have a stand alone HUB for the reasons above, but just seems odd to have it release the same time with The Bundle instead of a little later around the time the individual instruments are released.
I guess I missed the Game Pro review, any LazyLinks? Or should I just read it when I find it? :P
