"It's always nice to get an inside look at what's coming down the gaming pipeline. Though typically, if you're not a member of the media, you're left in the dark when it comes to gaming events. Sure, you might get previews and impressions from an editor who has been assigned a laundry list of games, but those are never any different from any other type of preview article. Getting a quick rundown of the best and the brightest that the company had to offer hasn't been done before.

Until now.

Electronic Arts just recently invited a slew of press outlets to come and check out their fall lineup of titles. They showed more than twenty games, and we're forced to pick five of them for our "Best in Show" article; not the easiest of tasks. Toss in the fact that the bulk of EA's titles are still under embargo until the start of E3, and we've got our work cut out for us to deliver as much information as possible without upsetting the powers that be. Check out the image gallery for more pictures from the show. Without further ado, we bring you the very best of EA3. "

The five games picked are:

Burnout Paradise
Half Life 2: Orange Box
Madden 08
Mercenaries 2: World in Flames
Rock Band

Text from Rock Band segment:
"Guitar Hero shook the gaming world and created an entirely new market for money-thirsty executives to sink their teeth into. It should be no surprise that EA quickly jumped on board the money train and inked a deal with MTV and Harmonix to help distribute the game. In Rock Band gamers will get the chance to play a number of different roles. You can pick up the microphone and belt out some lyrics karaoke-style, snatch the guitar - bass or electric - and strum some gnarly riffs, or you can use the drum pads and set your own beat. Regardless of the price of this package, you're essentially getting four full games since each instrument has its own style of play. Just imagine coming home from a late night at the bar with three of your buddies and firing up this thing. The neighbors might hate you, but it would be a great time nonetheless."
