So we're going to get six albums over the next few months. Of them, one will be metal, one will be alternative, and one will be pop.

So, which six albums (of which there must be 1 metal, 1 alt, and 1 pop) would you like to see?

My picks:

Metal: Metallica - Master of Puppets
Alt: Black Holes and Revelations - Muse
Pop: Thriller - Michael Jackson

3 Others:

I actually prefer "Greatest Hits" type deals like we had with The Who; I preferred what we got to Who's Next. However, since there's six albums announced, I like to think about what we could get.

But the best songs are usually not the singles or greatest hits. I like the fact I can play other songs than the hits.

Anyway:
Pearl Jam - Ten
Deep Purple - In Rock
Iron Maiden - Seventh Son of a Seventh Son
Rush - Permanent Waves
Metallica - Ride the Lightning
Testament - Practice What You Preach

good points

that said I would have to say for me personaly it would be hard to pick 6

I would love to see Alice in chains as one of them
as they are one of the few bands that I could say I like every thing they have done
well when Layne Staley was still alive

..::EDIT::..
and maybe soundgarden Badmotorfinger

What Ever People Say I Am, That' What I'm Not - Arctic Monkeys(Alt)
Room On Fire - The Strokes

and yet another one
boy did I drop the ball on this one
:(

man when I saw that name I can remember some good times when I was 13 jamming the hell out of this one

oh man could you imaging playing The Loneliness Of The Long Distance Runner
drummers arms and legs would fall off
singers lungs would dry up
and guitarist hands would melt
this truly would be epic to try

and now that I think about it

DIO last in line would be awesome too

so that's 5
close enough

Alt: Pearl Jam- Ten
Pop: Weezer- Blue Album

Other three:
The Strokes- First Impressions of Earth
Radiohead- The Bends
Motley Crue- Shout At The Devil

I would have also included Nirvana's Nevermind album, but I was trying to avoid other people's choices as much as possible (Except for Pearl Jam, because that still remains my second favorite album of all time.)

a lot of people with some strange choices for a "Pop" and "Alternative" album

Metal - Metallica (Metallica)
Alternative - Light Grenades (Incubus)
Pop - RIOT! (Paramore)
Other - Billy Talent (Billy Talent)
Other - When Your Heart Stops Beating (+44)
Other - A Beautiful Lie (30 Seconds To Mars)

RicoTheAwesomeCat
08-20-2008, 07:52 PM
Metal - Rust In Peace - Megadeth
Alt - Bleach - Nirvana
Pop - All We Know Is Falling - Paramore (the game considers them pop, so I can hope.)

Black Holes and Revelations - Muse
Fortress - Preotest The Hero
Songs For The Deaf - Queens of the Stone Age

Chris P Fried
08-20-2008, 09:09 PM
Metal- Iron Maiden - A Matter of Life and Death
Alt- The Killers - Sam's Town
Pop- All American Rejects - Move Along (Not going to happen because we already have the two most mainstream tracks but oh well.)

Muse - Black Holes and Revelations
Billy Talent - Billy Talent II
MCR - The Black Parade

If I could add a seventh album it would be No World for Tomorrow-Coheed and Cambria. I would gladly swap the pop album for some Coheed.

Pearl Jam - Ten is a must have. I got it last week and it's a perfect fit for this game.

My name is Fez
08-20-2008, 11:46 PM
Metal: Metallica - Best of 12 Pack (Master of Puppets, Wherever I May Roam, One, Fuel, Fade to Black, Hit the Lights, Fight Fire With Fire, The Outlaw Torn, Die, Die My Darling, Whiskey in the Jar, Hero of the Day, -Human, The Day That Never Comes)
Alternative: Nirvana - "Nevermind"
Pop: Fall Out Boy - "From Under the Cork Tree"

Others:

Radiohead - "OK Computer"
Muse - "Absolution"
Ours - "Mercy (Dancing for the Death of an Imaginary Enemy)"

I would have included the likes of the bands featured in my signature, but I don't think they're properly equipped for full album releases, especially Tool and Primus.

Also, an honorable mention goes to "A Crow Left of the Murder" by Incubus, it was hard to leave that out. It'd get in the game before Ours, but whatever, the thread is about albums I'd choose =p

I'm just going to go by possible ones this time.

Metal - Megadeth - Rust In Peace

METAL: iron maiden - somewhere in time
POP: blondie - eat to the beat
ALT: REM - murmur

ozzy osbourne - blizzard of ozz
creedence clearwater revival - cosmo's factory
the darkness - permission to land

Eat to the Beat is my favorite Blondie album and quite possibly one of my favorite records of all-time. If they do decide to add more Blondie to the game, though, I'd hope Detroit 442 was among the picks, just to show the more rocking side of the band to people who think they were only a silly pop group. Murmur is among REM's best, too. Great picks all around!

Metal: Black Metal by Venom
Pop: Rumours by Fleetwood Mac
Alternative: In the Flat Field by Bauhaus

Goth Rock: Disintegration by The Cure
Prog: The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway by Genesis
Blues-rock: Rancho Texicano by ZZ Top

Metal - Metallica - "Master of Puppets." Plenty of amazing tracks on this to complement the Metallica DLC in RB1 and the opening track ("Battery") on RB2. However, the fact that said opener is in the next game may make this unlikely. If so, that's a shame because I can't think of a single bad song from this.
Alternative - Pearl Jam - "Ten."
Pop - The Police - "Zenyatta Mondatta."

Others:

Megadeth - "Rust in Peace." Hangar 18 returns! Plus Holy Wars / The Punishment Due, Tornado of Souls, and other awesomeness.
Rage Against the Machine - "Evil Empire."
Anthrax - "Madhouse: The Very Best of Anthrax."

i've seen a couple mentions of Superunknown, since we already have Black Hole Sun and we are getting Spoonman in RB2, this is unlikely, but a couple more tracks would do :)

I think most classify Rush as classic rock... so now I guess it's a metal, alt, pop, and two others.

Based on recent comments, I'm going to say that one may very well be related to a song that was already released as a cover that they now have a master for.

Albums I'd like to see that follow this vein:

Main Disc:
Paranoid by Black Sabbath
The Number of the Beast by Iron Maiden

DLC:
Willy and the Poor Boys by Creedence Clearwater Revival
Good Apollo, I'm Burning Star IV, Volume One: From Fear Through The Eyes of Madness by Coheed and Cambria

I think the most likely candidates are either a Sabbath album or a Coheed and Cambria album, considering both of those are artists that HMX has gotten Masters from in the past.

It's good to see all the love for Pearl Jam's Ten. Hopefully, HMX took note of this some time ago and we get good news next Friday. It's not my favorite Pearl Jam album, but I won't get greedy; Pearl Jam, please! :)

In fact, how about an announcement full of Pearl Jam related material!?

Pearl Jam - Vs.
Mother Love Bone - Apple
Temple of the Dog - self-titled
Mad Season - Above
Neil Young - Mirror Ball
Green River - Come on Down

While you're at, HMX, do you think we could get the Deep Six Compilation too?

Metal - If it's old school metal I'm not a big fan (though a full Maiden album might be cool if they actually had masters), but something more modern I'd take Filter's Title of Record.

Alternative - Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream or Queens of the Stone Age - Songs for the Deaf

Pop - No idea what I'd pick or what this could even be. If pop punk counts I'd go with Green Day's Dookie or American Idiot.
