After seeing the awesome set of songs for download of The Who, I pondered the notion of Genesis getting the same treatment.
Now, if masters were not available, I would settle for covers. For the sake of discussion, we'll let 8 songs be the limit. My eight would be:
The Knife (from Trespass)
The Musical Box (from Nursery Cryme)
Firth of Fifth (from Selling England By The Pound)
Hairless Heart/Counting Out Time (The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway)
Dance on A Volcano (A Trick of The Tail)
Blood on the Rooftops (Wind and Wuthering)
Turn It On Again (Duke)
Land of Confusion (Invisible Touch)
What would yours be?

I'd take the knife as a single.

Well, for one thing, The Who is kinda The Who
and yeah, Genesis is not on the same level

Genesis may be nowhere near the Who in sheer volume of awesome, but Genesis is still awesome.
I would really go for a greatest hits pack of Genesis. I think it's a powerful set for most vocalists.
1. Land of Confusion

This is the most recognizable song by genesis, I would think, and therefore would be the first song most players would want in the game.
2. Illegal Alien
Illegal Alien (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p7q1H3VKdp0) - for me, growing up this was the first Genesis song I heard. It's fun, fast, and another huge hit. Funny story - growing up, I thought "Illegal Alien" meant like, from outer space.
3. Jesus he Knows Me
Jesus, He Knows Me (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RTrYE4a1BmE) - A great song about Evangelism; Also, there really aren't many songs about religion in the game - not nearly as explicit.
4. No Son of Mine
No Son of Mine (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wWu5HLFQCmE)
5. Invisible Touch
Invisible Touch (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hGHnuri0dF8)
6. In Too Deep
In Too Deep (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pi7Ds81niDw&feature=related) - slow song, which will not provide a challenge to anyone (but then again, none of these songs would) - but it's a beautiful song that I'd be happy to play. Maybe a touch too piano heavy.
7. Home By the Sea
Home By the Sea (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DNcZ8Nv5EAc) - older genesis, great song. Probably the best song I've listed, even though all of these are great.
8. Driving the Last Spike
Driving the Last Spike (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SSQLQlq0h_k) - Amazing song. Would be very powerful to sing. This is my favorite song by genesis, off of We Can't Dance. Ten minutes long, so that'll probably piss people off.
Great Band, genesis. I'll take anything I can get.

I'm a Genesis fan (as you might bee able to tell from my username), but I much prefer the older more progressive stuff. I wouldn't mind them adding a few of the later stuff (land of confusion is quite good), but I would much prefer songs like The Musical Box, Firth of Fifth, Dance on a Volcano, or, if harmonix is really nice to us, Supper's Ready. And we need the who Lamb album for DLC.

I've just been getting into Genesis, and I'd love some from the post-Peter Gabriel era (up to the Invisible Touch album)... Abacab or Turn It On Again would be great fun... or maybe That's All...

I'd take pretty much anything from any album, but I'm really afraid that the stuff I like best--the epic pieces that Banks wrote like One for the Vine--wouldn't translate well to RB.
