Today flew by. Wow. I got to play a mode of the game we haven't really shown off at all and I can honestly say it was one of the funnest things I have ever played in video games. I think it may actually be something of an awesome breakout thing to do. The second I can talk more about it I will, I just had to say something - it was that awesome.

So have we ever really figured out what this is? Is it BWT? Does somebody know? With the game coming out in a week (roughly) it doesn't really matter anymore, but a boy can still wonder, right?

Sean confirmed in a later posting that he was referring to drum vs. drum tug-of-war.

Sweet. Again, I can't wait to do that.

2 bundles ftw!

Because you can't afford it or don't want to?

Not trying to call you poor or something, I'm just curious why you wouldn't want to do that...

I'm pretty sure it is.

If you play it online you can still do it. Although I guess nothing is as fun as doing it right next to each other.

Yes, it is online, all forms of head to head are online as well as band quickplay.

I know this wasn't directed at me, but since I'm in the same boat as him, I'll answer for myself. I could afford to buy another drum set, but I just don't think I'd get enough use out of it. I have this sad obsession with figuring out the price of something, and how much I will use it, to figure out how much I'm paying for it each time its used (example, if I buy a movie for $10, and watch it twice, it cost me $5 each time. Is it worth that much?).

I guess I can thank all my accounting classes (and learning about cost allocation, amortization, etc) for thinking that way, and thank my finance classes for making me hardcore about saving my money (thanks compound interest!). So anyhow, it makes me really selective about how I spend my money, and this includes games I buy (sports games, online games like Warhawk, etc) versus those I rent (Ratchet and Clank, Heavenly Sword, etc).

With the drums, there are few times I'd actually want to have drum-offs with people, and theres only so much you can do with the 2nd drum. When I have friends over, I'd rather play 4-person BWT, which is why I'll splurge on a 2nd Strat, but not a 2nd drum.

Toefer, I agree with you. It's bad enough I bought the GH3 bundle and the Rock Band bundle just to cover all my multiplayer bases... you know... for the 3 times per year I have3 other people over.

Yeah, that way you get to knock out the person who beat you. Can't get that enjoyment in online multi player, oh no.

I totally understand what you're saying...so for my rebuttal:

You cannot buy the Rock Band guitar separately upon release. After playing GH2 and then playing the RB guitar, there is no turning back. I do not want to go buy a GH guitar for $50+ just to be "satisfied" and then go and spend $80 more or whatever the price of the RB guitar will be next year when they are released ( or skyhigh prices on eBay since everyone is gonna want one ).

So, I figure, buy another bundle, keep the guitar and drums, sell the USB port, mic and game. So theoretically I could get about $100 back from those 3 items. So, in the end I will be paying $40 for the guitar I want and getting the extra drums for $40 as well.

Are there going to be that many people who want to buy a mic and game separately? You would have so much more luck selling the bundle as a whole.

When any USB mic or headset will work why would a person buy a mic separately? Or why would a person buy the game separately?

To be frank it's just a waste. Chances are I'd rather be playing as a band.

It's a luxury if you're so inclined (and have a shėtload of money to pour into one game...I mean we're talking $300+ here a waste in my opinion) but BWT, versus (all but drums), online, and solo can hold me over 2 or 3 months for standalone drums.

True. I think $100 for the game, mic and hub is quite optimistic, and if you use eBay, they're going to stick their hands in your pockets for their "fair" share. As for getting another guitar, I'm waiting until the Strats come out next year. I'm not in a rush for one right now. Until then, I'll use the old GH1 controller with an adapter for PS3, and it will have to suffice as a bass for now. I'm sure ToW on drums will be quite fun, but I think 95% of my time playing the game will be BWT, and the other 5% will be learning to get really good on drums on expert.

The $40-70 I'd spend on drums I'd much rather put toward DLC, which I think I'd get a lot more use out of.

^^^ I agree...we'll see. I've said it before ( in other threads ) that I may just sell everything except the guitar....some people already have the GH guitar so maybe I'll sell a "bundle without the guitar, because once you reminded me of the DLC I realized I'd rather spend the money on that as well.....

Who knows what happens until I have the stuff in my hands anyway :)
